Yes, I live on the Manitoulin (it means Manitou-God and lin means land) Island. Yes, we have lots of snow, icy roads and also rain in the winter. Now I am glad it is over but it is still cold and sometimes cool weather in the Spring. No, my husband and I are not fishermen as a matter of fact I am a female. We are natives. My husband is Ojibwe and I am Cree and Cherokee with a little bit of Black. My husband was a logger in the bush(forest) for a logging firm. I am just a homemaker and an elder for people who want my advice on their problem. Some listen and some don't want to listen. But they ask and I give them their answer. Beside I don't know everything but the things I have experience in the past that I can relate to them growing up in the bush and going to special education school like mainstream schools, ugh! I love being Deaf very much and I also love being native and proud of my heritage same with my husband too. We live on the reservation or Reserve like First Nation. We belong there and people are glad and accept me being part of them because I am from United States. Hope that answer your questions.
