My guide dog was trained at Leader Dogs for the Blind in Rochester Hills, Michigan. She's a 45 pound yellow lab named "Tigger."

She actually happens to be my second dog. My first dog was a 65 pound golden retriever named "Sugar." She was a real sweetheart, but had too much energy for me to be able to keep her under control. Everytime she saw a child or infant in a baby carriage, she literally went crazy!

Tigger, on the other hand, is *very* laid back and mellow. She's now 12 years old and fortunately is still in perfect health.

Tigger and I have been through so much together and it will be difficult once she retires or I need to put her down.

She's been an absolutely wonderful dog to me! She is dually trained as a hearing dog. She alerts me to the phone, doorbell, smoke detector and microwave oven. (Even though I have CIs, Tigger still alerts me to sounds since she was trained several years before I received them.)
