    CIs and Music

Hi, UK member here. Evelyn Glennie doesn't have a cochlear implant. She is a percussionist who plays barefoot and relies on the vibrations she feels through her feet and other parts of her body. Evelyn has written an essay about her hearing loss and music career. Here is a link to it...

    naida q UP aid

I have Phonak Naida Q70 UPs. Absolutely love them! Used to have Siemens Reflex DSPs (British NHS). There's no comparison! Compared to the Siemens the Phonaks are brilliant, no tinny sound at all. Currently listening to my iPod with the Phonak ComPilot, the music is loud and clear, excellent...

Future SLP looking for interview with someone who wears hearing aids!

    1. I've had hearing aids for 43 years. 2. My parents noticed when I was a very small child, I wasn't aware of it. 3. All day, only take them out when I go to bed. 4. Yes definitely. 5. None. 6. Yes 7. Audiologist

    Compilot Question

I have a ComPilot and music sounds great with it. Your HAs do have separate programs especially for the ComPilot though, so you may need your audiologist to activate these and adjust them so music sounds better.

From Oticon Epoq to Chili to Phonak Bolero SP

Hopefully she can get the Bolero SP set up well to work for you. Don't be afraid to keep going back until it's just right, it'll be worth it in the end.

From Oticon Epoq to Chili to Phonak Bolero SP

I'm surprised your audi changed you from Oticon Chili to Phonak Bolero. Phonak Naida is the equivalent to the Chili in power. The Boleros may not have the power you need for your hearing loss and that may be why things don't sound right. Go back and ask about Naidas, I have them and find them...

    Severe to profound moulds

Sounds like your moulds have shrunk. If they are soft they will, and need replacing about annually. Best go to audiology and ask for some new ones. As for hearing aid power, mine are Phonak Naida Ultra Power, so you have a way to go yet!

    Bluetooth hearing aids experiences

Yes, much more choice, and newer technology, plus being able to access the programmes you want on your HAs rather than those that an NHS audiologist, who can hear, thinks you should have! An all round better experience in my opinion!

    Bluetooth hearing aids experiences

I went private after finding NHS provision inadequate. BEST MONEY I EVER SPENT! I now have Phonak Naida Q70 UPs and they are brilliant. I still can't hear well behind me, I think that is just a limitation of my hearing loss, but I do have a Phonak ComPilot bluetooth streamer, with the TV...

    Hearing aids are useless

Siemens Reflex are old technology. I had my Reflex DSPs from the NHS in 2008 and because my local hospital supply only Siemens and were unwilling to update them, I took the difficult decision earlier this year to go private and get Phonak Naida Q70 UPs, best money I ever spent! Certainly worth...

    Phonak Naida V UP

Phonak Naida UPs are for severe to profound hearing loss. If you have mild to moderate loss they are going to be much too powerful for you and likely to result in further damage to your hearing. Even Naida SPs are for moderately severe to profound loss. My advice is find something else much...

    Siemens hearing aid audio shoe

You'll have to ask your audiologist to set up your hearing aids for Direct Audio Input, otherwise the shoes and whatever you connect to them will not work. I too got my audio shoes from Connevans, NHS wouldn't provide them. Connevans also provide an excellent service setting up your radio...

Help needed for a long time analogue user

I have Siemens Reflex DSPs after using analogues my whole life, they also have compression switched off. It took me quite a while to get used to at first, they were quieter than analogues. Some sounds, like plates clattering were irritating at first and even now, after four years, when my dog...

    Super Power BTE Hearing Aids

My Siemens SPs don't have compression, you might want to try them, they work well for me. Mine are Siemens Reflex DSP, provided by the British NHS, I think Siemens Nitro are their equivalent. Digital aids can be set up the same as analogue, maybe you could try asking your Audi to try that.
