Smile proposals , marriages

I would like to ask aders,

- if you are married, how did you feel at the moment of proposal ? Where as it ? how did you do it ? and more if you wish to tell

- if you are not married, how would you want to be the moment of the proposal ? your wishes, fantasies and more ?

there you go

I'm not married, I would want my marriage proposal to be romancing, new and exciting.

My Ex gave me a big box 5 minutes before midnight on New year's Day. I was like what is that?? he said open it.. I was like ok.. I opened then there is another box.. i was like ok.. opened it and it was shampoo, next one was perfume, next one was candies, bath stuffs, cat figurines, heart candles, then small box was a bowl of peppermint candy dish with spoon. i was like cute. ok.. he said no look.. i was like where?? he had to show me on bottom of the candy dish and i was like a ring?? he said yes.. he gave me 2 cards.. first one say u mean the world to me etc.. then second one is .. will you marry me?? right at midnight.. i said yes..

Now we are legally separated ... and is in process of annullment..

After marriage is dissolved. I dont think i will marry again.. its just a pieces of paper? thats what i think?? change your last name? I didnt change my last name as I wanted to keep my name. but some women changed theirs.

I would want to be surprised - where he takes me to a place, we sit on a blanket, and then suddenly there are fireworks. At the end, I want the fireworks that you can write in the air...and it will say [my real name], will you marry me? Love, [Whoever Mr. Right is]"

OR

at the beach during sunset

Kinda hard to pull off the fireworks of that kind, but what the heck. It's my dream. I do know that I do NOT want it to be a public proposal - like asking in front of a group of people, or on TV, or etc. I want the proposal to be private...even though lots of people can see the fireworks, they really wouldn't know who it is for.

And the kicker is - I do NOT want a ring!

It is interesting to see that american women change their last name after getting married ? Am I right ? Is it obligatory or optional ?

In US, it is optional. What about in your country? (Very curious!)

It was obligatory in the past.. now, women can use their last name together with their husbands' last name.

For example,

Let's assume Sue Ellen married to John Edwards then her name would be
either Sue Edwards or Sue Ellen Edwards

I wouldn't want my future wife to change her name but she can add my last name to her name if she likes for the sake of simplicity and less confusion in America. In Korea - no names are changed. You keep your name forever and unchanged as given at birth.

In the past lot of women change their last names.. but today u are under no obligation to change it.

i have seen some kept their last name but add their husband's last name like Edwards-Jones. I thought that is cool.. just liek my son's last name.. he have 2 last names.. only he is not married.. he is only 8. LOL.. heh!

I kept my last name as I wanted to as my last name is a rare name- not common.

My ex hubby proposed to me at a park under the moonlight near a pond. It was pretty romantic for a 19 year old to think.

My current hubby proposed to me with my daughter. We were at his work and eating dinner (he was working part time at night and we paid him a visit). I was chatting on my pager while he and my daughter went to get something. They returned and both of them opened the ring box at me. I looked at them like "what is going on?" My hubby said "Will you the honor of marrying this goofball?" My daughter was holding the ring box. It was so sweet.

I'm all for domestic partnerships. I've seen too many broken hearts due to the legal complications of marriage.

I have recieved 5 proposals in my lifetime so far - the most unusual one was he sewed the note with "Would you marry me?" and ring to the cloth in a Jack in the Box. When Jack popped out of the box, he was holding a note and ring.

I thought that was the most creative one. The most romantic one was on a horse drawn carriage.

Lovely memories *sighing*

*PS No I didnt marry all of them LOL some engagements failed. Not Elizabeth Taylor here

What happens if the couple buys a house and then they break up? Still have some complicated issues to work out with the house and other assets. It is probably cheaper to break up as it costs money to file for divorce but other than that, if the couple owns assets or have kids together, no less complicated .
