Who here is on a Hearing/Deaf relationship now?

Just wondering. Does the Hearing person know sign language?
 
I'm late deafend and oral. Hubby is hearing and neither of us knows ASL. We definitely want to learn, would come in very handy right now since hubby has laryngitis.
 
I think the OP is asking about Deaf/Hearing relationship where the deaf person knows ASL.

In my case, I know ASL, but my hearing partner didn't. I taught him fingerspelling.

Now that I've moved on from that relationship, I'd like a partner that signs or is deaf.
 
Have been down that road. I made few mistake trying to have or maintaining a hearing-deaf relationship. I didn't enjoy it very much. I would love to focus on things to improve my relationship with that person.

Teaching ASL is fine, but I get tired of teaching ASL in a relationship. It would be easier with someone who is fluent.
 
I will make sure I know fluent ASL if I ever date a deaf girl in the future.
 
Deaf girl here married to a hearing guy. Both of us are fluent in ASL.
 
Late deafened girl here, in a 3+ year relationship with a hearing boy who learned to sign shortly after meeting me (a month in or so)

I was already deaf before meeting him. I talk back though orally maybe 80% of the time.
 
I prefer to date another Deaf person, but it doesn't bother me if they know ASL or not. ( Would be nice though ) Though most of my ex's were hearing (CODA's ) or whatever. If it works out long term I would work with them on ASL. :P I don't have to have one way or the other. :) As for now, I'm single and have been for a good bit...
 
Prefer deaf chicks for obvious reasons, But i've had hearing flings and longer fling flings too. fun fun, no complaints i like teaching the newbies ASL and so on and so forth, and all that. my ex wife was hearing so she kinda ruined it for the rest of the hearing ladies. i'm only human alas. though being a man grounded in balance (i'm a Libra) i always make an exception for that fantastic hearing girl who really knows how to dance.

I have been circling around ASL. For me it would be extremely healthy for my thinking relationship with words and the world as I try to communicate.
As it is I have a kind of ADHD way of sorting thoughts and words in a kind hyperactive flock shoot that does not come out very well. Writing calms my mind. I think ASL will also. Speaking and thinking together have not been a big success story for me.
She(hearing) is the little engine that could and will make short work of learning ASL if she is doing it for me. I would be huffing and puffing along behind her some where trying not to be irritated. :lol:
 
I have this friend whose hearing wife cheated on him so whenever he drinks, he would scream "I hate hearing women." He does that in the presence of our hearing friends and my brother's wife. Makes for very uncomfortable situations.

I know the opposite, hearing guy who was left by deaf wife for another deaf man, after her husband caught them cheating.
He's so full of anger he makes me nervous.

Luckily we almost never see him anymore. And he was ASL fluent...

That sucks. Hope he gets help for his anger.
 
I am learning ASL. I had a relationship with a Deaf Man for two Months. He then broke up with me because I am hearing. Broke my Heart. Why did he even bother to start dating me if he knew he wanted a Deaf girlfriend?

Bottesini, I am a Libra so I am also grounded in balance. Many people have had flings. I am now to assume all deaf men only want to dance with hearing girls but have a long term relationship with only Deaf?
