Buy a can opener. Maybe you are related to my stepmother. I have had to open everything for her since I was a little kid.

I don't know how she can reliably break the tab on a soda can every time.

And when I am not there, which of course as a adult is most of the time, she just eats in restaurants.

Just like the little baked pies that have apple filling. It has a little pumpkin custard filling.

Since Secretblend explained they are safe, I've eaten them twice. It's surprisingly good.

Oh that. I often find that they are way too hot, you have to let them cool off first. I remember when the pies were fried instead of baked.

I make my own mixture of food, I do not follow any recipes. Hence, my dishes lack a name. I am not an anarchist except when it comes to food. The principals are: healthy (I am a diabetic), likeable (good food is good), non-conformist (I hate following what other people are doing) and non-nonsense (the individual agreements should make sense , but the mixture serves the purpose of confusing people ).

Lunch at church after the funeral. I had ham sandwich, potato chips, some dessert that had cereal with something sticky holding it together and chocolate frosting. I was surprised at the vast quantity of things that I don't eat are served at a funeral lunch. I was certain I was very circumspect in not letting people know I don't eat those foods. But when we went back to the house my sister in law made me food that I eat and brought it to me. I was amazed at her thoughtfulness. Although I do wonder how she knows exactly what I eat.

I'm having chicken barley soup with carrots, celery and onions with a good dose of garic and some thyme with milk for lunch today. It's just the thing for a chilly, rainy Nov afternoon. I was planning to have chicken noodle but I forgot one of the indgredents for my homemade egg noodles.

Today's lunch was a salad with Spring mix, and garden salad mix, diced fresh avocado, diced tomato, bean sprouts, alfalfa sprouts and toasted walnuts. I had a Walden Farms blue cheese dressing. On the side we had Nan bread with roasted red pepper hummus.

For some reason, I''m thinking of pies fired out of a cannon.

Oh, you said fried? I don't even want to think about the fat and what it will do to my heart if I ate fried apple pie!
