How to stay clean at the gym

NOT!

I hate it when people uses equipments while they work out and forget to use the antibacterial spray to clean it up! Indeed, I ALWAYS spray and clean it up then i work out then I spray and clean it up. YES I do spray and clean twice on every equipments. Once I am done with workout then i go straight to the bathroom and wash my hands!

How about you?

This is my pet peeve!!! I always wipe down after use!!!! My gym has these wonderful pre-moistened wipes to make it easier for people. For some reason, people don't seem to care! I know plenty of people who have gotten MRSA at the gym! You must be careful! I use the hand rub too!!!

If you see a person use an equipment and then walk away without cleaning up, you can always tell him nicely... "Hey, thank you for not cleaning the equipment when you were done." and smile.

I prefer to look directly at the person who is not doing his/her job of cleaning the equiptment as I wipe down mine. Subtle, but it works sometimes. Usually guilt works well.

Lol. I wouldn't be surprised if I were single then I would do it. I am not in a mood to talk to anyone at the gym either if i stare at or talk to them. Blah. I prefer to clean it knowing that its all clean. lol

I am VERY anal about it. Ever since I got sick with the Swine Flu last Fall, I have been a little bit more paranoid about germs than before.

I am not talkative either.

However, even if someone wipes down the equipment, I still wipe it down before I use it. They can miss a spot or not rub hard enough. Also, when I wipe it down, I focus on the areas where my hands will be touching.

Hahaha...

You could always remind them that they can buy a small towel at the dollar store. *pointing in the direction of a nearby DOLLAR TREE store*

I am laughing so hard with my image of you wiping machines twice. I will look out at gym for people like you then when you look I will sneeze in my hands then start to touch all the equipment.

Don't take it personal, it just was funny for a minute. I take cleanliness very seriously as well. Just wash your hands and always be cautious to not touching mouth nose or eyes too much in those settings.

Oh yeah, that reminded me too....for you guys who likes lemons or limes for your beverages....ALWAYS request them put on side plate and not in your drink....and then don't put them in your drink after you squeeze them. uhmmm...an interesting study has cultured out some interesting microorganisms on those lemons/limes and servers don't exactly use tongs regularly- especially when in rush.

Nah, I don't mind if anyone makes fun of me wiping it twice in front of them. Too bad that you won't witness me doing it. As long as I know I try to clean it as much as I can. I agreeeeee that i try so hard not to touch my nose, mouth or eyes because I always do that. i use my cotton shirt to wipe it off if there is none napkins. ha

No, I mean don't ever let the lemon inside the drink cuz its the outside part/ the skin that has all the contamination from hands that have been who knows where. If the server gives the lemons on a plate, then you squeeze the juice into drink, then put the lemon back on plate- not into the drink so you don't contaminate the tasty drink you looking forward to enjoying

Oh thank you for clarifying it. I should know better because I did think about it but screw it. Now you mentioned it then I will only squeeze it then throw the lemon away. THANKS for the tip. I appreciate your insight input here.

Same thing with Buffets. People handle the tongs and utensils to pick up the food. but how many time people wash their hands before and after heading back to the buffet, and the tongs laying in the foods.

Pretty gross. since some people eat with their hands and children lick their fingers etc. then touch the tongs.

I have seen a kid lick the top of a ketchup bottle in a restaurant and snap the lid back on, put it back on the table.

The list goes on.... about how unsanitary people are.

My brother ended up getting an eye infection from the gym. He rubbed his eye with his fingers. He had learned his lesson.

Guess what? Tonight, the guy who works there and he got off duty in the gym. I know him through my friend's step dad who works there when stepdad introduced us to his coworker. SO back to that guy, He was doing his workout and saw me wiping off the equipment first then I worked out then I again wiped off the equipments too. He smiled, and then his body language stated that "are you working here?" I said, "me work huh?" He tried to sign like " you work here?". I laugehd hard thinking of you who made fun of me. LOL I said to him, " I think so!". He went back to his workout and i went back to my workout.

I say you can't assume the equipment is clean when you get there which means you should clean it first before using it because you didn't see the last person clean it. Then clean it again when you are done. This way you are always sure it is clean.

I guess you have to put the body condoms in all equipment to make you feel more safer and protection
