It sounds like not true and bottled waters are far more healthier than tap water, tap water in our country isn't very clean and it has too many minerals.

If you think that plastic bottle isn't good then pour the tap water into plastic bottle are still same.

Bottled waters (20 oz) cost 75 cents at my workplace.

There's no water filter at my workplace and there's no cups available.

If I'm go to somewhere or workplace then water filter is out of question, only bottled waters are found in anywhere, especially gas stations.

For DeafBlind Aders.

I describe the pictures for you all to read.

1. BOTTLE WATER - do we need it?

2. Bottled water costs more than $1.50 per bottle.
That is 1,900 times the price of tap water!

3. Which means BAD NEWS for your....

WALLET
As an average US citizien spends over $400 every year on bottled water.

HEALTH
Which can be damaged by toxic chemicals like BISPHENOL-A (BPA), leached from bottled water.
*BPA intake can also cause Cancerous Cells in your body.*

ENVIRNOMENT
Which is TAINTED by the Production, Transportation, Packaging and Disposal of plastic Bottled water.

4. In the year 2004, the Bottled water usage was marked as
26,000,000,000 (liters)

5. 26,000,000,000 liters is Nearly 28,000,000,000 Plastic Bottles in a year.
Of which 86% that end up as a garbage.

6. 1,500 water bottles end up as garbage EVERY SECOND!

7. 26,000,000,000 liters means 17,000,000 barrels of oil that was used to produce those plastic bottles.
That oil could have been enough to fuel about 100,000 cars for that year.

8. 26,000,000.000 liters also contributes to
An addition of 2,500,000 tons of carbon dioxiode that was produced in the manufacturing of the plastic bottles.

9. AND

10. $100,000,000,000 One hundred Billion Dollars - That is spent every year by Consumers on Bottle Water.
An amount like this even makes the Federal Bailout amount look small...

11. Research shows that a fraction of the amount, Everyone on the Plant could have safe drinking water and proper sanitation.
THINK YOU CAN HELP?

12. If you only drink Bottled water?
Are you sure you know all the facts about bottled water?
IF YOU DONīT THAN LETS JUST SAY YOU ARE IN FOR A BIG SURPRISE

You spend the MONEY.
You pollute the EARTH.
Risk polluting the AQUIFER AND OTHER WATER BODIES
For all BOTTLED WATER?

Survey shows that 35% of bottled water drinkers think that it is safer than TAP WATER.

13. Do you keep your bottled water in your cars?
You thought it was conveninet, didnīt you?
BUT DID YOU KNOW....

That the heat in the car and the plastic of the bottle can leach out chemicals that can lead to BREAST AND OTHER TYPES OF CANCERS.

14. No matter which one you choose when you think of when GOING GREEN
Ditching bottled water keeps MOTHER EARTH and your wallet GREEN.

The pictures of dirty bottles everywhere in L.A.

Did you ask your employer about water filter? You never know that they do have filter water?

No, they don't and our company don't want water filter due cost.

We have store brand bottled waters machine in employee's lounge but I prefer Dasani from coke machine.

I dislike water fountain because they aren't clean or taste like fresh.

Plastic are recyclable and we do have recycle can for plastic bottle.

Did you know that tap water contains random chemicals and is artificially treated?
That's why people may use the tap filter, to counter it.

In a chemistry laboratory experiment, I was doing testing on random liquids to see how conductive they were.. This picture should give you an idea of what I was doing:

The light bulb is only supposed to light up if there is a concentration of ions in the solution, meaning that the chemicals have an electric charge in it.
I put it into a glass of salt water, it lit up very strong.
I put it into a glass of sugar water (soda), it didn't light up.
I put it into a glass of vinegar, it lit up.
I put it into a glass of pure deionized water, it didn't light up.
I put it into a glass of 2% alcohol (booze), it didn't light up.
I put it into a glass of everyday tap water, the light bulb LIT up very dim.

I was surprised.

It is said that generally the chemical contents of tap water in the USA is safe enough to drink by LAW, but I still would not attempt it.. knowing what is inside.
I'm not sure if filters work because I didn't test filtered water.
But anyways, this is why some people may prefer to drink bottled water, because it's been "stated" to be distilled so that it doesn't contain tap water chemicals, theoretically it should not light up if you put the test into bottled water unless the company was lying or you have some treated water in it.

You will never know if the bottled water has conductive electrolytes or not unless you do the testing yourself, it's really the personal choice for anyone to make themselves.

If you want to be truly green by the usage of water, then look for a chance to live next to a river, lake or spring and do all the filtration yourself. That way you don't have to worry about government regulations in tap water, and you don't have to worry about littering bottled water.

If the US law says that you can drink from tap water which mean that they know that tap water is clean.

Accord German law, all the water is clean, we can drink from tap water but I still use filter on every taps in the household.

I do drink from tap water at workplace as well.

The US regulation on water is joke, you can check about how is clean the water.
University of Cincinnati - Drinking Water Quality

I don't like tap water, they are taste like pale and not fresh, I want fresh water.

In LA, no way, I wouldn't want drink tap water because I had taste like bitter in past.

We do have water filter via fridge but it's use for home only.

That's why people may use the tap filter, but I think unless otherwise you have some very expensive system, we're talking a huge filtering machine, not the small round thing you put on the facuet.

I can grab as much as 10 full plastic bag of groceries at same time, from car to home.
I do not support paper and plastic shopping bags and also donīt use both plastic and paper shopping bag for trash bin but cloth bags for shop everywhere and plastic shopping basket (useful for back of car to put foods and drinks in).

Yes, I have to buy plastic garbage bag. Itīs useful for clean catīs business from litter box and dirty foods, etc.

Not true, bottled waters are already processed with filter before sold to store or anywhere.

That's your choice.

I don't believe about government should regulate on shopping bags, I prefer plastic shopping bags and I can save all of them for everything, such as trash, lunch, used stuff or storage.

Well. I can use both plastic and paper. The brown paper bag is for newspapers and papers for recycles. I use the extra plastic bag for small bin in bathroom and swipe my dog's shit! LoL

I bring water filtered at home. I use a nice stainless cup.

BTW, why worry about shopping bags when we, as deaf people, rely on our cell phones or pagers so much?? What is dirtier - your cell phone or a toilet seat? Here is a link to an ABC News story that came out not long ago.

What's Dirtier, Cell Phone or Toilet Seat? - ABC News

I remember being young and drinking out of the hose. Ha. Still here! At least in those days we built up a natural immunity. No telling what else was building up!
My grandma said that sunshine and soap and water was good for everything. She would drag mattresses out to kill germs. Who knows??? At least they smelled really good after being in the sun all day.

There's interesting to say about plastic is from oil and natural gas since paper is from tree.

If we use more plastic and less paper then would save tree and allow tree to absorb the CO2, if you cut more tree to produce the paper then would less aborb and leading to smoggy issue.

Tree is renewable but it take very long time to fully sized of tree but oil isn't because of fuel fossil and never grow again after burn it.

That's why I never wear shoes in my home.

I keep rugs in front of the door entrance as well as the couch, loveseat and recliner. Every week I wash all of the rugs so that I don't have to worry about my guests staining the carpeting in my apartment.

I have all hardwood or tiles in my home. I do not like carpet due to it does harbor allergens, and other health issue critters.

I mop my floors at least twice a week if not more.

I also do not like asking my guest to take off their shoes. And my dogs when they come in from outside.

I love not having carpet. I do have throw rugs that does get washed occasionally.

The door mat, and other high traffic rugs get washed as needed.

This thread has shift to reusable grocery bags to water bottles. Now I'm lost in the middle of what we are really discussing about.

Anyways, I have a lot of those reusable grocery bags, they're so much easier and better than plastic bags, because plastic bags can rip and also makes groceries more heavier. Since reusable bags may be poison, I will wash them before using them again. Thanks for the heads up.

I have year round allergies and live in Section 8 housing, so I do not have a choice as to whether or not I have carpeting in my apartment.

Even well water... Has a certain amount of *icky* things in it.

Just as the city water. City water and most other water that is treated VIA filter, or chemicals. To make it safe to consume.

Just about every water I tested in the past contained a certain amount of feces.

Gross, eh?

But we have to drink water to survive!

We have to eat to survive!

If one really want to get down and test for bacteria. I am sure that the refridgerator and kitchen has a higher amount of bacteria than a toilet does.

So stay green with the "Green Bags"
