Why do I grind my teeth?

I used to grind them at night a lot when I was a child and recently on holiday to spain, my mum, me and my sister had to share a room and i was often woken up to tell me to stop grinding my teeth, why do i do this

It's stress.

The solution is, use the mouth guard like football use it for protection from not get your teeth jaw closer each other. You can find one at Drug selection in grocery.

It's bad to keep have teeth grind that would cause you get headache, too.

I had a friend that does that in his sleep. He puts in like a rubber fitting that the dentist fitted for him on his teeth at night, so he doesn't wear down his teeth.

Yeah, i do that too, according to my dentist!
He said he noticed that some of my teeth are
kind of worn down, geez, so he told me he can
either have me fitted for a teeth guard or i can
buy one at Walmart. I opted for one at WM since
it is cheaper, heh.

Sometimes teeth grinding can be brought on by anxiety or stress.

Hi Deaflissa90,

Usually teeth grinding is attributed to stress or anxiety. If there is too much stress in your life, you can be subject to teeth grinding, teeth clenching, and bruxism. I took the matter into my own hands and researched for a mouth guard. From there, I purchased a mouth guard from totalgard.com and I saw the results I wanted. Typically teeth grinding occurrs during the night .. hence you might want to look into mouth/night guards.

My dad grinds his teeth in his sleep, so he uses mouth guard to keep himself from grinding his teeth. Perhaps you should find a mouth guard to protect your teeth?

I got a custom mouthguard last month and it works like a dream. The most common cause is anxiety. So look at getting mouthguards to prevent the grinding of your teeth at night. Cause once the enamel is worn away, you'll never get it back and your teeth will soon rot and turn yellow/black. My dad has that and its not good at all.

Protect your teeth while you have it and don't wait cause it costs money.

"An ounce of prevention defeats a pound of cure"

Good luck!

You can find such a mouth guard at your local drug store for sure. One specifically made for you by your dentist is better though in order to keep your teeth in good shape! If you don’t have the money you can always use one from the drug store, safe money and get one done by your dentist later… ;)

I’d go for the dentist appointment though no matter what because once you’re teeth are gone, they’re gone… ;)

Teeth grinding comes from stress just like many other people have already pointed it out...
