People (with or without mental illness) will get pissed off either way.... which is why trolling is not allowed.

I'm meeting you halfway Hear Again. I am sorry if I said anything inappropriate that offended you.

Everyone cares about each other here.

You see Hear Again, this is why I strongly feel that a private section here on this forum should be set up with a password access for the members so the moderators and Alex can know who has access into the mental health section.

This way the members who has access into that mental health section can talk freely without any repercussions. No judging, no negativity and no one snoops in because they'd need a password.

I wish you good thoughts tonight and rest well.

It's ridiculous to see how some members will stoop to such silly behaviour to try to prove a point all because they don't like how a member worded her/his sentence.
which is why it's called personal responsibility. if AD causes you to have a flashback/ptsd/rapid cycle/etc. frequently, you have a choice there - stop coming to AD. when you come to any public forum - you are expected to come across all kinds that can be a trigger.

Either (like what Bucket said) STFU or grow a thick skin. meanwhile - have a good time and keep it clean!

Hmmmm. "Rapid cycling" in this forum makes me nuts. I mean, no matter how fast I pedalled on a stationary bike, it got me nowhere. I guess I need to read more threads and posts to understand. But hey, this is Alldeaf and it is a place I can return to feeling safe.

i hope other ad'ers won't mind, but i'd like to explain what rapid cycling means. rapid cycling is when a person's mood changes once every few days, daily or (as in my case) hourly.

just thought i'd clarify for the information of others.

Another site I belong to has an abuse forum and they require that you have 500 posts and be a member for a year.

i suppose jillio could be a moderator for pysch ward thread and she's good at detecting malingerer so she can issue access for those who requests for it and banish the troublemakers.

People that request it should be allowed to. If they abuse it. Then they are banned as in any threads.

on a bipolar forum that i participate on, if a member threatens suicide or appears to be in need of immediate mental health services, the administrator sends out an automatic message encouraging them to seek help. perhaps ad could come up with something similar.

Thank you, Hear Again. NOW I understand you. The first time I saw you mention rapid cycling I thought Dang, she probably is quicker than a bandersnatch against my punching bag.

eeeerrr I imagine Alex would not like to do that. I don't think he'd want this forum to be a magnet for those with suicidal tendency to congregate together.. because most of us are neither qualified nor properly-equipped to deal with it. It would make the matter worse because most of our suggestions are "CALL 911! SEE SHRINK!" which is not quite helpful

But it's his forum after all....

if alex decides to create a "psych ward" forum, chances are very likely that there will be posters who threaten suicide. the only way to avoid that from happening is by creating a rule within ad policy which states that any discussion of suicide is strictly forbidden and if anyone breaks that rule, they will be permanently suspended from ad.

and horrible thing is... when getting permanently suspended from AD... they would commit suicide.

that's a rather horrible thought though...

not everybody follows the rule... just like people don't follow the rules here which led to either warning or ban. it's tricky situation to deal with suicidal people.

that's true, but perhaps ad could have jillio (or another licensed professional counselor) mod that section to prevent any discussions of suicide. posts could also be checked before they are sent to the forum. that's what used to happen on the bipolar forum i participate on. all posts were checked by a mod and took several hours between the time they were written and the time they appeared on the forum.

someone could develop a special set of rules for that section and be posted prominently upon logging into it each time. and whatever rules were thought up by a person or persons be given to the admin and mods and super mods to discuss and revise as they see fit before being implemented.
