Yeah - she bought the house in 1961 and it already had both the cook top and wall oven. She's kept them that way all along. This is the 2nd time she's replace the wall oven and she has only replaced the cook top once in the last 40 years.

This recipe came from an old family friend. The wife of the minister that baptized me in Arkansas.
1 Cup quick grits 4 Cups water 2 teaspoons salt 1 stick butter 1/2 pound grated cheddar cheese 3 eggs, beaten milk Cook grits in water with salt. Beat in butter and cheese until smooth and creamy. Add enough milk to the eggs to make 1 cup and add to grits mixture. Pour into a greased 2 1/2 Quart casserole dish. Bake uncovered at 325 F for 45-60 minutes. Optional: 1 pound of ground sausage. Brown it in a pan, drain well and add to the grits mixture before putting into the casserole. I used sweet turkey Italian sausage. Removed the sausage from the casings. The dish will be runny and loose but is very good. Serve with a vegetable and a salad and you've got a great meal. The recipe should feed 8 people with small to normal appetites. My family, it feeds 5, but daughter doesn't really like it much. |

I ate tamale, potato salad and beans at my aunts then ate late dinner at uncle's place, he cooked a gourmet dinner prime rib, mashed potatoes , English souffle, and German chocolate cake for dessert.

That is a very minor worry, but I can guarantee the apostrophes are in the right place! Check this writing TheWriteAlex. My stepmother's retirement career has been in proofreading so she told me where they go.

Yesterday we had orange and cranberry glazed roasted turkey stuffed with onion and apple, broc and rice casserole, mashed potatoes, peas, cornbread dressing, cranberry jelly, tamales, lace cookies, turtle bars, pecan carmel drops, sweet tea, milk and sodas. We had (no kidding) a full crate of candies.
Luckily we have few leftovers. Just enough for a nice second round today. I am hoping to make potato pancakes with the bit of leftover mashed potatoes tomorrow. I love those things. |
