I went to Palm Tree Thai restaurant w/my dad and family earlier tonight for Father's Day.
I had chicken satay, padi thai and steamed rice instead of fried rice. And thai iced-tea w/boba. Then dessert, I had sliced of moist chocolate cake filled with caramel that my sister bought it from asian bakery store. Mmm, I'm floating on a cloud. |

I don't have any groceries in the house, so I ended up having Pizza Hut. I ordered a Hand Tossed Crust pizza with sausage (they didn't have Deep Dish when I called at 9pm) and 3 orders of breadsticks with extra marinara sauce. I like to put the extra breadsticks I have in the freezer and warm them in the oven.
I then take the extra marinara sauce, put it into a bowl and heat it in the microwave so it's warm, but not so hot that it turns into liquid. I also ordered two 20 oz. bottles of Pepsi because I forgot I already had a 2 liter bottle of Sunkist in the fridge. I can't remember the last time I ate so much pizza. My new meds must be increasing my appetite because I rarely have pizza. I love eating it, but I try to watch how much I have so as not to gain weight. I used to weigh 157 last year due to my meds and was considered pre-diabetic. Now I'm holding steady at 114 and would like to keep it that way.

Speaking of bakeries, I'm craving strawberry churros right now. We have a wonderful Mexican bakery on the other side of town and they have various flavors including cherry, strawberry, lemon and blueberry. Blueberry and strawberry are my favorite.

I don't mean to bring this up, but it was due to my bipolar. I had several depressive episodes and did not eat. My GP and psychiatrist said it was a mixed blessing because while eating wasn't good for me, it did help me go from being a pre-diabetic at 157 down to my current weight of 114.
Having said that, I do eat healthy (with the exception of last week ) and run on my treadmill 7 days/week for an hour per day. I also do not drink alot of caffeine and have protein drinks (like Carnation Instant Breakfast) whenever I don't feel like eating. When I snack, I eat a bowl of Honey Nut CHeerios or plain Cheerios so that helps cut down on my overall intake of food. I need to eliminate sugar from my diet due to my bipolar because it can cause me to become excitable/manic. Sorry to mention that, but it's the truth. I really do need to be careful of that, so it's something I watch out for.I wish I had some other helpful tips to share with you! I know losing weight isn't easy!

If you were pre-diabetic at 157, I must be pretty close to diabetic.

Now that I'm back down to 114, I'm no longer considered pre-diabetic, but I still need to be careful because I'm on a very high dose of the med that raises blood sugar. Therefore, I make sure to test my blood sugar every week with a "talking" glucose monitor. I'm not required to do this, but my GP thinks it's a good idea so we can catch any problems early should they arise. |
