I URGE ALL MY FRIENDS TO READ & SHARE THIS; YOU COULD SAVE A LOVED ONES LIFE BY KNOWING THIS SIMPLE INFORMATION!!!

Stroke has a new indicator! They say if you forward this to ten people, you stand a chance of saving one life. Will you send this along? Blood Clots/Stroke - They Now Have a Fourth Indicator, the Tongue:

During a BBQ, a woman stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) ...she said she had just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes.

They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food. While she appeared a bit shaken up, Jane went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening.

Jane's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00 PM Jane passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Jane would be with us today. Some don't die. They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead.

It only takes a minute to read this.

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.
>>RECOGNIZING A STROKE<<

Thank God for the sense to remember the '3' steps, STR. Read and Learn!

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:

S *Ask the individual to SMILE.

T *Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently)
(i.e. Chicken Soup)

R *Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.

If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call emergency number immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

New Sign of a Stroke -------- Stick out Your Tongue

NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out his tongue. If the tongue is

'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke.

A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.

Hope all goes well with you Caz!...Am thinking of you....

If you think your having a stroke, don't wait. The is something the paramedics can give you that, if taken within the 1st 3 hours, can stop/reverse damage from a stroke. My husband had a stroke and he was at the hospital within 1-1/2 hours and only stayed there 3 days. You could hardly tell he had a stroke when he left. Unknown to me at the time he had had one or more ?TBI? which can be a precursor to a major stroke.

That's a heat stroke, different from a "Stroke" from a blockage in your brain.
Ive had heat exhaustion and heat stroke before and yes, after that one time you can never fully recover being in the heat.

I grew up in a hot weather climate for 16 years, and I'm used to it, but I still have to be careful, though, and make sure I'm well prepared if I am out for long periods of time, like I was last week.

Yeah I did too, racing BMX bicycles in 100+ degree weather without really breaking a sweat, heat never phased me until I got older, Working Parks and Forestry during the heatwave around 94-96, I got extremely overheated out in the sun with no cover, drank lots of fluids, but could not sleep well and was constantly tired ever since even into the winter months, I recovered by spring, the following summer, it just hit me like a sack of bricks and been that way ever since. Your body never really recovers from it....so if you aren't experiencing it, you never had it.

That might explain why I was tired a few weeks back, and with potential cooler temps coming, I'll be able to spend longer hours outside in temps in the 60's the weekend after the one this weekend, if forecasts holds up. And as for no cover, that's why people need to be drinking water/Gatorade if they're going to be outside for long periods of time. Also a good idea to have some way to call for an ambulance should one be needed. I, too, spend a lot of time on my bicycle, but I'm not always well-prepared, though. I need to do a better job of that.

don't you have to pay for ambulance...Something I feel is inhuman
