An x-ray will not show anything wrong when you have plantar fasciitis:

Plantar fasciitis - PubMed Health

but your foot will hurt really really bad.

When you wake up and take a few steps, does it hurt worse than when you went to sleep?

The only reason I know about it, is because I had it (plantar fasciitis) for about a year. It takes a long time for the pain to go away. There are a lot of stretching exercises you need to do - if that is what you have. But like Jiro said, wait until you get checked on by a doctor.

I injured my plantar by dropping a heavy piece of machinery on my big toe. It broke my big toe, and pulled off the toe nail. I later limped (obviously) and the limping is what injured my plantar.

The broken toe healed faster than the plantar did.

(I still grimace when I think about and cringe my toe)

I was thinking the same thing. I had that problem because of the mattress. It was too soft, causing all the blood to flow from my foot to my midsection. It only hurt when I got out of bed. When I switched mattresses, it slowly went away.
