Me too...

It was annoying at first, then I got used to it. Now that I have high speed connection, I don't know if I can put up with it again.

Oh yeah, some DJ actually made a music mix CD using sounds from AOL and modem connections.

not the internet. not the cable modem. the sounds come from the dial-up modem (it has built in speaker) where you dial and you hear dialing, ringing then modem connecting sounds...

Thanks. It was a crack referring to my own deafness, but as a writer I do appreciate the explanation for description when writing from a hearing point-of-view. I'm weak in the area of sound.
