New to alldeaf
Newly diagnosed HOH with new hearing aid. I knew my hearing was getting worse and finally saw an audiologist. Yup, hearing loss, both ears. Opted to just get hearing aid for right ear which I new was worse than the left. I'd been ignoring the obvious for many months and when finally diagnosed and hearing aid ordered I was very depressed for 3 days. Then I got over it as I have so much to gain.
Got my hearing aid 4 days ago and what a difference! Wednesday I heard dry grass crunching under my feet. Thursday I heard rain. I keep discovering new sounds and it takes some time to figure out what it is, then it is "oh my, I've haven't been able to hear that for a long time". I feel like a kid in a candy store discovering new sounds. No problem adjusting to wearing it. I'm not saying there aren't any issues it is just that anything I've come across so far is minor and I am keeping a list and will discuss at my next appointment. I look forward to learning a lot from all of you hear at alldeaf. |
