I'm new to the site....

My name is Gary and I am a hearing person.

I first became acquainted with the Deaf Community back in 1996 shortly after graduating high school when I went to Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center in Fishersville Virginia.

There was a local "School for the Deaf and Blind" nearby and there was (and still is) a healthy percentage of the WWRC's student makeup consisting of those who were deaf and/or hard of hearing.

I first made friends with some of the Deaf students, after my snoring was so loud that the dorm managers had to move me to the Deaf Suite because everyone around me was complaining.

So after that. No more complaints about my snoring. However, since I was now living directly above the dorm manager's office, my loud music did not go over so well. I offered to give my system away if John, the Deaf guy next door ever complained, to which he smirked, and told me to turn it down.

I've lost contact over the years with a friend there and always harbor some thought of actually finding him again.

However, I think you'll agree, that with a name like "John Smith" (I swear to God) that it's not gonna be easy. He has a brother named Jason though. lol.

Not kidding.

Anyway, I stumbled upon this site while looking up a Social Security question, as I'm on disability and am moving to Ohio from Washington State in the next month and was trying to figure out whether my benefits (SSI/SSA) will change or not.

Um...

I have no clever way to end this so I'll stop typing now.
