Hiya! I'm a foreign-born exchange student and wild girl. Given my mother's position, with a few paper work, I became American and fell in love with America's lifestyle -- especially New York City and Hollywood. I pop in here for a reason: I was fascinated by an interpreter who had ASL-interpreted for a deaf man in my class. After a few classtimes, I managed to conquer my shyness and asked the interpreter about deaf and the sign language she used in my class. The interpreter was gracious enough to answer my every question. And then, I asked her where and how can I find more information about ASL itself and 'deaf culture' as I quoted the interpreter. The interpreter referred me to here and informed me that AllDeaf is a friendly community for newcomers and, to be more specific, Hearing people. I've always thought that ASL was an acutely beautiful language.

So here I am. I hope I'm welcomed to be around here. If you have any questions, I will try my best to answer. I'm outrightly new to ASL and 'deaf culture'.

Hello and welcome to Alldeaf! Being here, you'll easily forget what 'shyness' is...am glad that you were directed here and yes, hearing people are most welcome here in this Forum, many have considered or felt very much a part of this online community. Bids you much success and joy as you venture into the world of the Deaf/HoH, learning how to sign is always a big plus too. Hope you'll enjoy your stay here in AD! ;)

Have a great day!

Thanks for clarifying what it stands for. Although, I didn't understand what it meant. But I had to check Oxford English dictionary for the definition and now I understand. Ha.

Everyone, thanks for the warm welcome!
