I am 23 year old, I have BTE (two) analog hearing aids that are Seven Years old and I am looking to purchase a pair of new digital set, thru my Health Saving Account that starts in January 2012, (I asked for $2500) and if any extra i'll throw in out of my pocket.

My employer Officemax warehouse offers rembursement on the hearing aids (Thanks God).
I'm dealing with two Hearing aids specialist at two different offices one with Starkey and some other brand (i cant remember) My analog set I have now are Phonaks and Ive always had that brand.. This is my first time having to actually purchase hearing aids myself, the past has been thru my Medical Insurance I've had when I was 18 & younger.

So Ive seen Waterproof/bluetooth (I'm a gadget, Iphone guy. I don't know ASL, or using ASL, speak oral) I am 95-105 hearing loss. cant tell you right off the bat the excat hearing levels. but born with the hearing since birth. parents found out at two and I was shipped to a hearing school right away.

I dont know what to really look for, starkey? good reviews, should i stick with phonak or how or what ? just looking for some feedback, suggestions, comments etc if you can help make my shopping experience better

thanks

Andy

Hi Andy, Starkey is a very good company, I use Starkey. Problem is they are pretty pricey hearing aids, the plus part is they have some pretty high technology with their hearing aids. I just bought mine a few years ago but they keep coming out with newer hearing aids that I would like. Maybe in a year or so will I buy a new set. The sound that comes through them is pretty clear and pretty natural. Although, I have not tried any others, I guess each person will be partial to their own opinion. A lot of people try one brand and like it, I think the only way is to ask someone who has tried starkey and phonak. You should be able to try them before you buy them.

I would suggest trialing the hearing aids if possible. Ask the audie/HA specialist about a trial period so you can try out the hearing aids first before making your decision and buying them.

since U love bluetooth and water resistant stuff, I'd be trying the Phonak Naida UP if I were you and the poster below me has that hearing aid.

Hearing Loss is one of the world's most common health problems. It is also one of the most ignored problems, and this is unfortunate because hearing loss and its many psychological side effects are treatable. Really it is very useful and beneficial information me. Thanks for sharing.
