Anyone with a disability of any form is unattractive? Or is it just the deaf? Then, you must not be attractive either.

Out of curiosity - was this the first time the piano teacher sang notes to her? My mother used to play the piano, I used to play the recorder, the entire family would play music all day long and two of my sisters played the clarinet. My mother used to sit next to me on the piano, play a note then sing it. We also used to have a stringed instrument - it's very old fashioned - really trying to remember the name of it - will ask my sister and get back to you - that had notes printed on the woods behind the strings. I would memorize which printed letter would do with which string and then be able to pluck any string and know which note it would be. My recorder teacher would do the same with the recorder - play a note then sing it. eventually, I was able to play notes based on notes they sang because I learned to associate each sung note with each piano key or notes on the recorder.

In grade seven, I had to take vocal because it was assumed I wouldn't be able to play instruments. Had to take vocal again in grade 8. We sung scales as warm-ups at the start of every class. One day my vocal teacher came up to me and said that she had just told her class (not the one I was taking) that of all the students, I sung the scales the best and she was amazed.

So was I! It really blew my mind when she told me that. I can't sing but apparently all the music and AVT training taught me to mimic notes and scales very well.

so, back to my point - can Li play a correct note based on anyone singing scales to her even if she never met them before?

You been hanging out with old senior citizens or something? j/k you really need to get out more then. I've been going to deaf events for 2-3 years now and have seen plenty of hotties. There are plenty of girls interested in me from the past.

The one unique thing about deaf folks, is that they don't discriminate based on ethnicity. Tell me one race that doesn't do that...

I play the piano, can play profoundly deaf (though not as well as with HA's on obviously).

It's called "seeing the music" aka Synesthesia.

I understand where you are coming from. I know you are taking ASL course and you like it. Thats great. the word you were using can make others feel annoyed when the way it sounds you are embarrassed to be around Deaf ASL users. But i know you did not say what you mean. so again, I didn't take offended from your word because you don't want to deal with the stressful communication between people. I ve seen a lot of oral kids who use those words too often. some of them grew out of their embarrassing self esteems or some of them are pretty bold enough to meet tons of Deaf people. All I hope is that you would be willing to be bold enough to meet any deaf/Deaf/HOH who prefers ASLto chat with, one day. As you already know that I am ASL user, and used to be avoiding any oral deaf/hoh people. It was my biggest mistake because they all are in the same boats as I do except the form of communication. So therfore I don't want to allow this happening avoid issues to anyone who have issues with the form of communication. So I keep signing to hearing people who knows nothing about ASL but still willing to talk to me then we end up getting write and paper or body language or anything that works out great.

it is all about willing and be bold.

I use hearing aid and am not into musics heavily but i do listen to musics. i dont understand words but most of times i know which musics they are using guitar or piano or sax {sp?}or voilin or more equipments or drums. I do enjoy listening to any kind of muscis that have heavily beats that makes it feel vibrations as well. my three sisters have their own different musics that i can see each of them have different tastes in musics. I always turn the musics on when i drive or alone in the house when kids and hub are not home. i cant wait one day for my hearing children to pick their tastes in musics that i can listen to the musics with my kids. right now i hear what my boys playing video games, *pow pow* whatever it was.

oh i forget one more, my friend who has hearing husband. He tends to bring the speakers and heavy raps or soft musics that i enjoy listening to, when i visit my friends home. so please don't assume ALL deaf dont go into musics. some deaf people are into musics if they want to.

When I took music class many years ago, I learned that one DoD could play the piano better than I can and >>I<< come from a musical family. Not fair!
