Angry School Audiologist and HAs... BAD NEWS

SO about a month ago, we had a...lets say an almost-ADA-hearing aid-type of stuff involving with the school audiologist. My school audiologist was trying to figure out why the FM system was giving so much static noise. And when the school heard about me having the Phonak Nadia, the school audiologist went ahead and changed my battery door. And i felt nervous about that. I didn't want to say anything because apparently school thinks they know better than me to get the perfect education or noise possible. When the school audiologist changed the battery door of my new hearing aid, it was NOT water resistance anymore, and it was the WRONG battery door, AND she scratched my new hearing aid that was on a 3 MONTH TRIAL. I texted my dad right after school telling him everything. and lets just say he got really mad because the school/ audiologist had never asked my dad for permission to change the battery door.

So my dad took me to my Real audiologist that we trust and been going to for 13 years since i've been deaf and he looked at my hearing aid too. My audiologist got mad too. And said it wasn't guaranteed to be waterproof anymore. My audiologist looked at the batteryd oor and said it was the wrong one because theres 2 reasons why; 1) it doesn't have a filter to let the battery to breathe, and 20 it was the wrong size. Then i noticed the pin that holds the battery door wasn't all the way through. And my dad got mad even more. After we got back from my real audiologist, my parents went ahead and called the school, yelling at them about how they never got permission and how they might be paying for the 3-month trial naida. My dad called the school audiologist and yelled at her too. She said she called to come and fix the FM system, which she did, but she never said anything about changing the battery door. So now, everything is fine. And I'm keeping the nadia as my own hearing aid, it isn't on a trial anymore [at least i don't think so]. So then, at my IEP, my dad and my mom AND my real audiologist came to my IEP and told them in a firm-serious, voice saying: "DO not touch [my name here] hearing aid ever again, call us first and we'll think about it."

What are your opinions on this, or what we should have done?

Make her pay for damaging your HA but be civil about it. Explain where she went wrong.

There's a liability problem here and one that may come back to haunt you at a later date. I understand your parents being upset but yelling at school officials really got nothing accomplished, and saying something in a firm tone accomplished nothing either. The school and school audiologist should be held responsible for the damage they did to your aids. In the least they should stand up and contact Phonak and admit what they did and see to it that Phonak replaces your damaged aids with new aids and that all warranties be put back in place, at their cost. What if in 6 months your aids get wet and damaged, you no longer have that part of the warrantee, and repair costs will now come out of your pocket. If the school can't be reasoned with, get a lawyer. And in the future, no one touches your aids. Considering the price of the aids I would be fuming!!!
