Has Anyone Else Learned To Ignore Their Tinnitus?

When I was really little, I used to have a huge problem with tinnitus and it use to terrify me whenever I would try to fall asleep. However, as I've gotten older I've gotten used to it and have learned to ignore it. The other night I read something about tinnitus before I went to bed and then when I went to bed, I started to pay attention to my tinnitus and it began to irritate me. I hadn't really realized that I had been able to overcome it... but I guess I just learned to ignore it.

Has anyone else learned to ignore tinnitus?

That's the case with me! That's the way I feel. But the other night after I finished reading something someone had said about tinnitus, I was thinking about it and noticed it again. But then after that I was fine. I guess it's just become so common and it has been such a usual occurrence that I just don't notice it and therefore am able to ignore it.

I don't notice it much, except once in a while at night.

I've had it since the 70's I believe....some times are worse than others, sleeping was a problem as the same songs kept repeating over and over in my head......(musical).....also, while shopping and browsing thru clothes, etc.

It's hard to lip-read while music is going on in my head....at times I can just shake my head real hard and it helps....but basically, it's always been there (it seems)....I can ignore it sometimes....other times, not.

Mine goes in and out so it's more noticeable. But when it gets really loud, I usually try to listen to something louder to drain it out.

Had it since i was 16 due to stress of exams then ditched my HA in left ear due it aggravating my Tinnitus. Roll on 14 years, Got CI, and HA for left ear, tinnitus dramatically reduced when wearing CI.... Now Hardly hear them unless i am in bed without CI... I don't mind them now days.

Caffiene is another factor of tinnitus, I don't drink any unless when i am at parties/pubs which is rare, If I have too many Cola my tinnitus gets worse.
