I'm in my room, the only thing making a noise is the fan. It's on every night when I am on my laptop

Maybe your room is too quiet? Does the tinnitus improve when your in a noisy (ambient level) environment?
During the last month or so, I have been having bad tinnitus whenever I am in a quiet environment. I also think lack of sleep (I couldn't sleep properly due to the tinnitus), worries, stress can also trigger tinnitus. I don't know if there is a connection, but since I started taking multi-vitamin tablets, my tinnitus seems to disappear.

I hope you find your solution, Lissa! The only long-term solution for me so far is just stay away from abnormal vibrations and decreasing my dependency on the hearing aids.

I don't know. But I started using tuning forks when I went a bit weird after audiology tests with their stupid bone tests and tonal "beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep" which set off the tinnitus. Been like that since I was little.
I only discovered the subwoofer thing like four or five years ago. It was a complete fluke. Doesn't work with all music though... only a few samples from "Velvet Underground & Nico" album, and a few Lou Reed songs... and one or two industrial samples. I was just sitting at my desk doing my homework, resting my foot on a $30 subwoofer, then noticed that my tinnitus subdued after one of the songs... think it was "All Tomorrow's Parties." It just disappeared and I experimented with that from then on. The last person I was with thought I was nuts for repeating the same album all day long.

Ah, I remember someone finding a way to reduce tinnitus using a modded electric toothbrush.

if you seek a thread here titled "a few questions and thoughts about Deaf people and music! " go there then scroll down to post number 24 im seriously thinking of building one next year (and sell of my current gear as i want to go back to solid state amps to make a 5.1 theatre system to do with the new LED tv and dvd recorder nothing too flash, just a Rotel, and maybe a yamaha receiver...but speakers and wires will be all my own creation, as I d rather know exactly what wires and solders im using and keeping it project budget right down....
im just thinking thats all i find that SS amps have more audible distortion (on contrary tube amps have more distortion by our 'ear' picks it up as so they are liquid sound so smooth, my amps is toooo smooth for that i suspect it nice if you dont have tinnitus problems but for me, it tends to be tooo smooth which somehow brings the ringning up... urgh...so i m gonna experiment somehow.. not rushing it to sell it up, might just add the sub and do minor rewireing of the computer's 5.1 to dvd player, then freq split to plate amps..... heaps of options..

Well, the noise contined. On Monday it was a constant whistling noise, I could hear everything normally but on top there was whistling, on tues it was more of a buzzing noise on and off. I couldnt hear it if I had my CI on with my HA. My mum rang audiology and I got a new replacement HA today, I can still hear whistling, whens there's noise. Maybe it's in my head?

Maybe if you stop wearing your HA for a few days, this will take care of the tinnitus? You don't get the tinnitus with the HA off, right?

My reasons for choosing stem cells over CI are numerous. Many thousands have gotten stem cells for all conditions with 90% success rate. I have emailed/contacted stem cell centers, read articles, did my research and know the facts. Chloe got such good results she can hear well without HAs! My hearing loss is the same in both ears. Recent audiogram: 125Hz=55db, 250Hz=70db, 500Hz=90db, 750Hz=110db, 1000Hz-8000Hz=NR at 110db. I discuss my deafness and stem cells in my blog |

maybe your mind is playing tricks on you, or maybe there's something in the environment that might be causing the noise for some reason. I have no idea. Maybe hearing aid's programming is warped somehow? I honestly have no idea, am trying to make sense of this. Hm.
