Hello!!

My hearing aid is also called Sumo DM if you go private but it's basically the same aid. I was just wonfdering if anyone knows what db this can go up to.

I am struggling with my aid, if I do have my ci on i cannot hear music, the phone, i can hear voices but cannot make out words if iv not lipreading even if im stood next to the person, cannot hear very much at all and my hearing aid is at the top range og db on that aid

No its 85 db gain, its like if your hearing loss is 110 and you substract 110-85 you get how much you can hear if you maxed out your hearing aid
You won't hear all frequency clearly like ci it will be muffled and quieter.

Hearing aids is only an amplification of your residual hearing. If you have a ski slope type of audiogram, the db gain will only help in the lows, not the highs. Hence why you won't get the clarity and crispiness that you need due to lack of high frequencies.

If you feel that your hearing aids is not helping - you probably are losing more residual hearing.

This is exactly why I got cochlear implant. Hearing aids were not helping me and I struggled trying to understand everything...now I can understand quite a lot due to having bilateral CI's.

What I would do is go get a hearing test for your HA ear, and see if your hearing has gotten worse.

i'm sorry. i meant that the maximum power output of the oticon sumo dm is 144 dB spl.

my CI ear is better but I hear a lot more with my CI AND hearing aid so i must be getting some sound from my aid!
