I really hope I am not going to appear rude,

Hello, my name is Lauren. I am currently doing a research project on cochlear implants, the scientific aspects. I was wondering if anyone here would be willing to offer me any information on their cochlear implant. For example, how is works or what the surgery entails. Any information would be greatly appreciated! Again, I truly hope that I am not being rude. Please let me know if I am. I am simply trying to further my horizons and not be so close-minded on those who are different than me.

Thank you!

Just check some of the old threads in here. There is a wealth of info for you to review. Also, check out the web for info...plenty of it out there to get the basics down. Once enlightened, ask away!

Welcome! You'll see that many CI users are MORE than willing to give you a lot of information. Both good and bad. Check out my blog, and then you can check out my "list of blogs to read", and you'll see that everyone pretty much have different experiences. It's not the same for everyone, which I think you know already.

Good Luck on everything!

Asking people for info on CI ... there's nothing rude about that... don't worry.

But "scientific aspects".... what do you meant with that.

A blog which has "scientific aspects" - lots of them is by Michael Chorost. Have a look there. And check out many other websites.
On the blog for my daughter, there are some links to these - as well as links to other CI-users.

Looking forward to hear some of your questions.

If you are looking for the scietific aspects, I would suggest you consult the professional journals for articles and research reports.

Below is a general illustration, also you might want to contact a customer or technical service agent from a major CI manufacturer for any materials they can send you.

Wikipedia also has some decent information.

I would not cite it on your work, or use it as a primary material for research, but it might give you a good outline of what to look for.
