Rayovac. It's what my audiologist uses. Of course, the Rayovacs I buy are the normal ones I get at Walmart (gray packaging). My audie has a more powerful Rayovac brand (black packaging).

When I got a response from Phonak, she asked me if I was using GenX batteries, and I have no idea what they are. Hrm. Waiting for another response from Phonak.

BTW - it has happened to me at least couple times in a month. Sometimes your HA, batteries, tubes, and etc are fine and cleared but you're not getting any sound. That means you got a water in your ear... usually from shower or swimming pool. I just realized this problem last year... grrrrrrrr.

While I was driving after shower, my HA just suddenly died on me and i was mad cuz I just sent it for repair twice... which took like a month or 2. I took it out and tried to figure out what was wrong with it. All of sudden, the water came gushing out of my ear (well not like a waterfall but a small amount of water). I was like what the heck and dried my ear out... put my HA back in... everything's working. pretty damn weird, huh?

Here is what I have found...

I have been told that the GenX batteries are only required if you are using Quicksync. You wouldn't be using QuickSync because you only have one hearing aid. I am not using it either so neither of us need to be using the GenX batteriess.

Yesterday I got some Seimans batteries. Thus far, no problems. If the problem does persist I guess I will order the GenX batteries and see. No one seems to carry them so I would have to buy online.

ahahaha Phonak got back to me and apologized, saying Naida doesn't use GenX batteries.

Never had any problem with Rayovac batteries, so I always stick with it.

SCORE! I have my audie's email address now!

Saw him today, I told him what's been going on with the hearing aid and that sort of thing. He'll call phonak, even fax over what he's done to my hearing aid with the adjustments, and get some advice from them. And I'll just email him if something comes up.

YAY! That's great!

Today my audi told me she will be seeing a Phonak rep on Monday and she is planning showing her my complaints and issues with the Naida. I have an appoinment with my audi on Tuesday so hopefully she will have some new ideas to try as far as adjustments go.

At first today, the hearing aid worked fine. But then slowly over time, the volume decreased on its own, then went quiet. I got rid of the moisture in the tube and hook, changed battery... turned it back on and immediately it decreased in volume then went quiet. What the heck? Right now I have the hearing aid in my dry aid cannister, and sent off an email to my audie about it. Wearing the old hearing aid and enjoying music once again . Got to love hearing aid troubles.

funny thing is... i had similar problem and i couldn't figure it out until way later.... there was a crack in tube at the base of ear mold. lol the tube was stiff. check your tube and hook thoroughly to see if there's any crack or puncture. if not.... then I'm as clueless as you

oh and also - make sure your ear is clean too... sometimes water lodges inside your canal after shower even several hours later.

my ear's clean and dry. will check for cracks/holes later on. thanks for the idea. Just weird, as it's never happened with my old hearing aid, ever. I've had holey tubes before, but that always resulted in feedback, not decrease in volume haha.

sound like overload? But you did the right thing by sending a email to your audie and wait for appointment to be set for you. I am sure your audie will want you to come in and look at our HA, you know they have equipment to test it.

That happened to me on Friday! I have absoutely no idea why! It started working again the next day. I told my audie about it and she is going to talk to a Phonak rep about all of my Naida troubles tomorrow, before I see her on Tuesday. Both of my aids worked all weekend, hopefully they will work for the week to! I am busy busy busy this week and really can't have them dying!

Wow. That's just bizarre. My other hearing aids have never done that, so I'm just stumped. I'll just leave the Naida alone, let it get some "rest" and try it again tomorrow.

ekkk girl, glad the audie is helping a great deal... sometimes I think they should wait abit longer like 6 months to a year to get the glitches or whatever wrong with it first... I guess they don't work when you want them to lol... (oops my bad)... do you take out your hearing aid batteries out when you not using them?? and leaving the battery compartment open as well to air out... just a thought... thanks for letting me know the problems as I've been thinking about the Naida myself... just gonna wait abit... smile

Alrighty! I have new info!

So my audiologist talked to the Phonak rep. They think the problem is the battery contacts. Something having to do with a wiring problem. They think the aids are turning off and then turning back on right away but since there is a 6 second delay on start-up it seems like they are off for a long time. I am going to stick with the aids that I have for now, and then once the problem seems to be fully resolved I will get two new ones. Apperently this is a fairly common problem with them so far.

I have had no problems of this sort with other Phonak aids I have used. It is just because the Naidas are SOOOOO new.

Also, I had her change the mic/FM ratio in my FM+Mic program. I also had her swap out speech in noise of an FM only program. the FM only program doesn't work though. We never tested it in her office so I sent her an email and I will probably go in on Friday to have it fixed. At least that is what she said would happen if there were problems. She seems to just assume that there will be problems now. I don't blame her.

Anyway, that is what I found out today.

battery contacts? really? My hearing aid never turns back on on its own when it cuts off. Never. I wait a while, just to give the hearing aid a chance, but it never comes back on. So I have to manually turn it off then back on to get it working again. hm.
