Did you see story about AB on "Today"?

That is pretty well known. And they are a big business in it to make money. Future problems will be glossed over too.

Now that you brought it up, another big fight with the rabid CI proponents is almost sure to start. :(

:cool2: apparently so. However, it is tiring for me. :giggle:

My main interest in CI came after this as in the early days I had insurance with an exclusion for anything hearing related. So . . . this was new to me.

yeah, it's about the problems from 2005ish, vendor A vs vendor B. AB was using 2 different vendors to manufacturer the internal device, and eventually stuck with the vendor that made the implants with no moisture issues. It is unfortunate that those who had the moisture problems had to be reimplanted and what not, but AB fixed that problem, and they even fixed the more recent recall (2010ish?).

But hey, CIs are man-made devices. There are going to be problems at some point. All manufacturers have had their problems, it just happens.

That is why I don't like surgery as the surgery can be a risk and also not known if the devices in the Cochlear not be able to work. Devices like hearing aids don't last forever. Beside, it is very costly to have to pay for devices like this. Deaf people just have to learn to adapt to being deaf and learn either to sign ASL or use paper and pen for communication. Lipreading is another story being that it is not accurate. :(

I don't see any pro CI users causing problems on this thread. Perhaps you should consider who is causing these fights? Every time I've seen one, it's been instigated by a Deaf community member being extremely vocal about CIs.

Yeah just adapt, kay. I'll let you know when I've evolved into my next form.

I didn't say anything about who starts them...

You read into my statement what you hope to see.

But I usually see the CI users who were not born deaf starting them.

Yep--I adapted by getting a CI! Sorry, I've lived in the hearing world and the deaf world and will take the hearing world any day!

Good for you! Then why are you here? lol

It was old news in 2005. I seem it's improving in technology. N5 had a recalled in 2010. Fortunate, I have not experience with recalled through n5 because I has a freedom electrode array. The most people get re implantion after recalled. I'm not one like them. I'm very lucky. I have no regret to make decide to get CI. A several Deaf people recent receive CI and later on they gave it up and think CI is not work anymore. I believe that they are failed to attend SLP therapy or go to ENT to get re mapping. Why they got their first CI later changed their mind to stop wear CI. It's senseless the decide. They have a personal choice whatever they want to or not. That is no matter what. I can respect for people's personal choice. I heard Nadia Q70 is improving in technology, noise envoinmeant and look so good shape with multi colors. It's a waterproofing, swimming, sweating.

FYI I'm not an AB. I'm using Nucelus 5 for now. I like to learning about AB from other else experience with AB.

As I said at post #4 "My main interest in CI came after this as in the early days I had insurance with an exclusion for anything hearing related. So . . . this was new to me." And I didn't know how many others might be interested so I posted it. I have learned more details from reading this thread and will continue to watch it.

As a satisfied user of an Advanced Bionics-Harmony Cochlear Implant since August 2007. I knew they had a previous problem in 2005 which had no effect on me.

aside: I have mentioned before-how Sunnybrook/Toronto picked it at the point of time for me-Cochlear had some problems and MedEl was not used by them -then. I know-ironical- at times.

Still no problem for me to date.

aside: Cochlear Implant exercise tonight- swing dance for "seniors".
