I understand that you have been seeing audiologist for a long time. did they say you may be eligible for a CI? I know you wanted a CI so bad. why is it too long since you are ready for a ci.

I've only actually seen the CI audi here twice. It takes foreverrrr to get an appointment since we don't pay our health care.

I know it sucks in the states to have to pay BUT I had MUCH better health care in the states and never had to wait for stuff than I have had here in canada- I hate our health care

I hate having audiograms as well.

Hope the surgeon brings good news.

Even if CI Audi is there. Surgeon has higher say on things I would guess. That's what happens where I am. Means surgeon could over say what Audi says and say yes.

I don't mind that she's really going to be there..More I mind how she said it and how she's treated me in the past...she's been downright rude to me and I find it very unacceptable. She thinks from first appt that I was lying. But to prove I was wrong I had a bunch of other tests. ABR and some other test that shows I am indeed deaf as per my audiogram. So that shut her up pretty well but she still was ignorant again after the 2nd appt. ..not as bad but still. There is no need for ignorance when it isn't my fault what my ears decide to do.

Alicia: I guess the procedure in Ottawa is different than what happened to me at Sunnybrook/Toronto. The audi was not there with the surgeon-just him.
I knew she approved the Cochlear Implant as she said so-at the end of the appointment- February 4, 2007. Of course, subject to "passing" all the physicals.

Fortunately - I was successful- the operation was July 12,2007.

Ive been wondering about ABR test,I'm getting one Monday . It will be the billionth test. I hope there's not to many more test. My surgeon says its for insurance purpose before I can get a CI. I've never heard of ABR test before. At this rate I'll be broke by time I get approved lol

I didn't have to have an ABR done for my CI process. Just hearing test, CT/MRI scan, discussion of what I hope to get from the implant and of my expectations, and that was it really.
