Hi,

My father has lost the hearing sensibility.

He has undergone a test called audiogram and the test gave the below results.

Right Ear 50db
Left Ear 46.6 db

Please suggest the best hearing aids for my father in the price range of Rs 10000-20000.

The best place to ask questions is an audiologist/hearing aid dispenser rather than surfing online and asking on a forum. No one here is a doctor or a professional dispenser. Your father should have plenty of options available to him, and if he's near a Costco, he might try visiting one of them as they offer great rates, warranty, and trial runs to see how he likes them. It's important to do a search and get all the facts you can, but it's just as important to direct your questions to the people most qualified to provide assistance. Good luck.

Ditto - Costco, Walmart, Beltone, SoundBird etc all carry significantly lower quality HAs than a proper Audiologist's office. Also there testing is less accurate because of the building they are situated in (versus a proper Audiologists office).

You get what you pay for and it's definately worth getting a good Audie that sells various makes and models of HA, not just one brand /"their brand".

For people with moderate loss Costco's fine, they're rebranded aids, so they're not "low" quality, but they're not equipped to handle more significant losses. I ended up at Costco last month because my mom works for Costco and my parents are helping me pay for my new aid(s) and they wanted me to at least try there. The audi (and yes he's an actual audi not just some trained tech or whatever they call them) literally went "uhhhhhhhh" after my hearing test. They didn't have anything that could handle my loss, and he told he's only ever had one other person with loss as bad as mine walk through his door. But someone who's just got run of the mill getting old loss could be fitted fine with an aid for Costco.

Isn't Costco an American store? I don't think they have any branches in India! Anyway it's best to go to a properly qualified audiologist whatever your hearing loss, just in case there is any underlying problem causing it, e.g. Otosclerosis, Menieres, etc.
