Hearing Aid

All in my life, I never get one hearing aid. My right ear cannnot hear at all but my left ear can hear only little. For example, when I turn my phone volume to max and I held it closer to my ear and I hear a little. Then I pressed my phone against my left ear and I can hear clear and loud. So I wondering will hearing aid work on my left ear? Can hearing aid volume go that high?

How high? What is the db loss? And what do you mean you can hear "loud and clear?"

What can you hear? I really think you have to get an audiologist to test it and tell you.

You can get that done at your school, I think?

Honestly, I have a no idea haha. I failed the hearing test at first. I guess my left hearing improved somehow? I already set it up with audiologist, so I will have my left hearing test next week

I am guessing you may be experiencing hyperacusis, which happens when something happens to the auditory nerve.

I experienced this when I had Ramsay Hunt syndrome, and after it was all over, I had more hearing loss than I had previously. But of course I am not a doctor.

I am certainly interested in this though.

It sounds like he hasn't been to an Audie in many many years and maybe not even properly diagnosed.

If he's been to an Audie and his audiogram has diagnosed him as profoundly deaf (+90db) then I have no idea how he's hearing anything on the phone becuase typical 'hearing phones' only put out between 45-50db worth of volume ... Which means if he's able to hear anything on the phone he must have a maximum of +50db loss.

If he has an amplified phone, they still only typically go to about 70-75db ... Which is severe range.

That's why I said what I did.

Even if my cell phone volume is at max level? I added cell to make sure you don't misunderstood because I forgot to add cell.

I thought I'd add that I have an ultratec uniphone/ amplified phone and I can't hear anything at all on it with my deaf side (+120db HL). On the occassion I use the phone to speak/listen, I set it to Max vol to understand what is being said- and that's for listening using my mild/mod HL side.

My cell phone is Samsung Replenish. I tried headphone and it didn't work. I only can hear my max volume cell phone and gunshot if I am much close to them.
