Clearly looks like someone with a lot of money and time on his hands. People who are well to do or have very good paying jobs tend to get bored easily, and so find outrageous things to do. A common example was joining the military willingly even though they had not be required to do so. Don't get me wrong, most men who joined in WWII did it out of duty, but there were a number of wealthy men who were bored to tears with their lives and looking for adventure, and I remember reading about at least one who was killed in action parachuting into Europe during that time.

That was kind of awesome looking. Not something I'd do. I have balance problems due to a not moving middle ear and like my feet planted firmly on solid ground.
