Aren't potatoes and tomatoes in the nightshade family? Some people can't eat them because of that.

Zeus's birthday

How am I feeling today ? Pretty darn good, today is the birthday of my Audio dog, Zeus. He is four years old today. From the day he came home till now, the longest we have been apart is aprox 16hrs. He is beside my desk as I write this, he rides with me everywhere.

So yeah, pretty good day. I cannot say strongly enough how much he has impacted my life.

Don't think I've heard them called Audio dog, but that makes sense. Easier than "assistive listening dog". (presuming I understood correctly)

@LoveBlue

Yes, that is the term applied to the program. As we progressed in the training it somehow got shortened to Audio Dog. Huh, never really thought of it. It was a term that just stuck I guess.

That's a big and beautiful, healthy looking dog. He would be a welcome addition to guard my back yard! But don't think my small Pomeranian would like that too much....What's his Birthday surprise? A T-Bone Steak?

Hungry. Man, I got off my walking habit for a short while, and I find myself hungrier than when I was walking almost daily. Well, hope to get back to walking now that it's getting warmer again and I've finished practicing for my last ALS class for the semester.

Hi RR,

Truth is, Z is so very cool with other animals. Part of his training, yes, but also his personality. Z and my cat play. He has had other dogs get really aggressive with him at which point he just ignores it. He is pretty passive...........for the most part.

If he feels a threat to me, or even in my space the hair on his back will come up. He gets a "razor back". When I touch him, I feel his growl. He will alert on sound in different ways. Some very urgent, some just making me aware. He always takes me to the sound or points its location by looking at it.

His diet is pretty strict, but today I will bend the rules some.

Feeling sort of Blue today. Woke up to cloudy, grey skies, had been raining all night and again this AM...no BBQ plans for today.

Cold & overcast here too
Should be a good time to get things done around the house. Let's see how that pans out.

Yes....lots to do here myself and still working with the furniture. Usually, in weather like this, I could sleep for hours. but once my eyes open in the AM, there's no hope for falling back to sleep....Thinking about getting my umbrella and taking a walk down by the dock and the river then coming back in and start tackling my projects.

I pulled out of the basement our family crib (100+ years old) to see if it needs painting. It was stripped & painted white 22 years ago and is now antique white. There are places that could use touch up paint. I'll see what my daughter wants me to do. I also weighed and measured each piece so I can get a guesstimate on how much it will cost to ship it to her.
Taking a break to eat lunch & check out AD.

That's awesome aout the 100+ yr. old crib!...Just love refinishing/staining furniture....right now, I'm working with a solid bamboo bookcase (staining it)....plus a china cabinet. Am thinking to pass these 2 pieces on to my sons. Went to the store the other day, not realizing I had paint all over my leg!

Remembering also, when my grandmother died, she left so many pieces of old, old furniture. My sisters refinished most of them, and surely are worth a lot these days. Unfortunately, I was not able to pick up any of the furniture as I lived out of state. Imagine it will cost quite a bit to ship the crib to ur daughter.

Yeah, I expect it to be expensive. The crib is wrought iron, not wood.
I too have a lot of family antiques, but I'm not into staining & painting. If I decided to repaint the crib, I'll spray paint it like my husband did. May take it to where we do set construction for the summer theater group I belong to...and maybe ask the "experts" there to paint it for me. Hopefully won't need to take it someplace to get stripped.
Um, wonder what the airline would charge me if I took it with me on the plane?
Many years ago we took a trunk with us on a trip to Disney World. When it came off the plane there was notation on it..."heavy".

Surprisingly I don't feel as tired as I thought I would. Was on my feet for about 4 hours outdoors. Walked about a mile to meet some people from a train forum I belong to at the train station where Amtrak's 40th Aniversary train was on display. Stood/walked around for a few hours then walked a mole back to my car. Then had to stop at the grocery store on my way home. Now I'm sitting in my LR relaxing. Asked daughter to pick up a pizza on her way home.

Achy and just tired after driving for too long yesterday. Got home just as the storm hit real bad here. Sat in Expedition for 30 minutes while storm passed. Got inside the house and the electric went off. What a homecoming!

The Easter Bunny still stops at our house too. Even though there's just me and my 18 year old. EB spent $25 on candy this year just for the two of us. My portion would have only been about $5.

Feeling better. We have a hot, sunshiny day and almost no breeze at all. Staying indoors as much as possible.

MIL already had daughter put out her Easter yard decorations at the beginning of March. It's like she's in a contest with the neighbors to have hers out first.

Awful. I have had pain in my feet and knees a lot this winter, and I finally got examined , (I hate doctors) and got a diagnosis.

I have gout, and also osteoarthritis, and what I thought was some injury in my feet is actually pain from the cartilage going away. I was surprised you can have both of these at one time.

I am now on a special diet for this also, which removes a lot of the foods I like.

I hope nothing else goes wrong for a while.

I'm sorry to hear your health is so challenging right now. I hope things even put for you sooner than later, and that you feel better.

I'm feeling very blah right now. At least by this time next week I'll be in Hawaii. I'm sure my mood will have improved by then.

I hate doctors too...with a passion ...seems they are always trying to find something wrong with ya!...(as my ENT said: "the right ear is not normal"....after looking inside of it)....I said it's normal for me!.... Anyway, Gout is no laughing matter, it's painful. One of my friends has it also. Take it easy, Botti and sorry about the special diet....that sucks big time.
