Donated blood for the first time in my 56 years. It's the first time I've been eligible to give blood.

Congrats! I've been a regular plasma donor for over 10 years. It's a really easy way to help someone else!

I have been turned away from so many places trying to donate blood since I have baby veins that roll. It's too hard so they get frustrated and give up. Even in the midst of a severe shortage in Columbia, MO, they asked me to not come back since my veins are "touchy".

I had 4 people work on my arm as they had trouble getting the blood to flow. It may have been more of a "not hydrated enough" issue (though they didn't say anything about that). I'm not one to drink water and wouldn't you know the vending machine here at work was out of water bottles just when I was going to buy one or two (to hydrate before my appt).

I usually don't have problems when I go for lab work, so I was a little surprised that they had problems. I know my husband was always a "hard stick" which wasn't good since he spent a lot of time in the hospital and had blood drawn many times. Every time he went into ER, we would let them know he was a "hard stick" so that they could get someone else to do it if they needed to.

Am currently doing teddy bear surgery. Daughter's beloved teddy bear has been so loved that a lot of fur is missing and now the neck has ripped again. I have stitched it at least three times, but her head fell off this morning. Can't do away with Cathy or DD will totally lose it. Cathy was given by my Uncle and Aunt whose daughter Cathy was murdered in Minnesota. DD got her at birth.

Went to the ENT. They insisted on repeating an audiogram. I just had one in Aug. I hope Iyou dont have to pay for it. Now I need to go back for an ENG. I have a feeling it will not be fun. He is baffled that I have ringing in my ears, and doesn't know why. So I hope the ENG tells him something useful. I asked him why my hearing seems to fluctuate. Some days things seem loud, and I turn my aids down. Other days I have to turn them up because they aren't loud enough. He said he has NEVER heard of hearing fluctuating in ALL his years of practice. I am not thrilled! Have any of you had an ENG, and was it helpful in a diagnosis? Thanks guys.

My hearing used to fluctuate depending on my migraines. It took me many years to figure this out because I often have painless migraines. It took a Dr at
Johns Hopkins to figure this out for me.

Should I ever post in here?

Seems like my life is all about work and parental duties. I need to go on a cruise or something. Maybe if all of you pay for it.

Man, I feel for you easterners... Cruises from Texas to Cozumel is pretty cheap, and a cheap flight from here to there... $500 for the whole thing.

And you guys...

Can you apply for the position if it is available? Go for it!

completely understandable.

I do plan on being a professor way later on in life - graduate level or maybe senior level. I feel sorry for k-12 teachers because I can see how it can be frustrating and exhausting to teach many kids who do not care about subjects.

I would prefer Curriculum Coordinator over teacher because students do care and listen to you. Same reason for me. If I'm teaching graduate students, they do care and are very willing to learn. well maybe... maybe not I guess we'll see down the road, eh?

I would LOVE to have painless migraines. The migraines I have now, leave me in pain for days. Sometimes bad enough that I get physically sick. At that point, I pray to God to make my head explode just to relieve the pain. so far that hasnt been granted, maybe with good cause!

I went to work, came home, changed clothes, took my DD to a birthday party until she got sick again, and we had to leave early. Before we went to the party she said she felt fine, then, wham. It hit her like a subway train. We are back home now and she's sleeping in the bed beside me.

Take care of yourself as well as DD.

Surprisingly, I slept good last night and I was actually awake about 45 minutes before my alarm goes off. I got started on a book until my alarm did go off. =/

As for me and DD, we're holding in there. I'm just glad she's able to go to the doctor when she needs to as she is in ARKids1st. Me? I just suck it up and deal with it. I can't afford to go to the doctor or take time off from work. Last spring, I had the flu, but still went to work anyways. Never missed a day although I felt miserable.

One would think a painless migraine would be better. If you think about it, a painful migraine you take pain meds and go lie down. A painless migraine you don't realize you are having a migraine and it persists for days until your hearing is suppressed, your eyes start doing weird things, your thinking is getting foggy, your balance is off. Then, when the pain does finally kick in, you are already in a full blown migraine and starting to think you might be better off dead.

Seriously, I prefer the pain because I can then take my migraine meds and go lie down. Life is much better much faster that way.

The additional problem that comes from being in that situation is that you can pass it on to co-workers and around and around it goes. I was always lucky enough to be able to afford to stay home when sick even if not paid for those days off. I never did like the way some that made more than I would come in anyway and expose all of us.

Went to morning job, taught kids, went to teach at the YMCA. While there I had to take care of a black widow, and a VERY cute ring neck snake. All that fun before I started teaching my class! My boss was thrilled . She hates spiders, and snakes. I just don't see why. It has been a fun day so far. Now my son and I are going to look at lego sets. Later back to work, and maybe Deaf Coffee!

My migraines seem to be stress related. They always come back when I have to spend time with parents for several weeks.
