Think I may work on another lesson at Lifeprint.com. I had gotten up to lesson 9 before, but then life happened and so I had to start fresh.

Thinking of our "heroic" and assertive ASL teacher! Last Wednesday she had doubled checked to have our Monday class (bumped because of the holiday) last night, at the Deaf Community Center. But when we all got there at 6 p.m., there was another group using the facility. So, rather than cancel class, she used her video relay on her cell (our teacher is Deaf) and called our nearby main library to request a room. No way would she cancel our class! So we all did wheelies out of the parking lot and caravaned over to the library. Then the library would not let her sign the usage agreement for the meeting room because she wasn't a resident of the city and because she's a contract employee as a teacher, she wasn't authorized to sign for the Deaf advocacy org. that is sponsoring our classes. So I got to help out, as a resident. I admired how she patiently (she is voice off) communicated w/ me only in sign and I actually figured out what she was saying (so, HEY! I am learning some ASL ) and was able to finish the paperwork. And we all got to our meeting room and had our class. WOO! HOO! How can I *not* learn ASL with that CAN DO attitude and energy from our teacher?!

Thinking I feel bad for contractor and his guys. It was so hot and no air moving at all. Some of these guys are wrapping towels around their hears. Because they were cutting concrete and rebar, they couldn't go shirtless.

I am thinking about my niece. She is in the hospital right now having her labor induced. She is 6 days late. I can't be there now because I don't have my car. I will go when I finally get my car back tonight. I can't wait to finally meet baby Kaliegh. Super excited.

thinking how strange the music sounds with the implant, but it's interesting and fun. Sounds different, but I can make sense of the lyrics with the songs I'm most familiar with.

Thinking about hubby and if I should call the doctor or try to clear something up on my own first.

He complained of massive ringing in his ear today and then dizzy spells. It just started yesterday after he tried to clean his ears with Q-Tips. I have told him over and over not to use them. Well, he mentioned it to the cardiologist this morning and he looked and sad hubby's ears were really full of wax and that could be the problem, but that the dizziness does not look like it's from his heart issues. So, should I try to clean them out with the peroxide/alcohol treatment I always use, and see if that works, or call the primary care doctor. Seems hubby and son inherited a problem FIL had. Massive wax build up in the ears.

You should have a doctor take care of it in case it is related to his heart.

It seems more likely than just wax.

Well - the cardiologist was not concerned. He thought it was wax and said to go with that.

Thinking how "lonely" it is being the only one in the office who knows how to do what I do (programming in VB). Advantage is job security. Disadvantage is there's no one to ask for help when I'm stuck with a problem.

Cool, you will have a big basis for a malpractice suit if you husband dies because the cardiologist is in the habit of making guesses.

Thinking about a conversation at the chiropractor's yesterday. Been going there many years. They know I have hearing aids. That telephones are not my friend, that I use captioning when I call them, etc. Yesterday someone asked why don't I just get a CI and wouldn't that replace all my hearing and solve all my hearing problems?! GULP! After all these years of my explaining my aids do not replace my hearing. Having them repeat things. Etc. I told them there is no Star Trek. All the technology can help, but never ever does it give full hearing like they have, like I had years ago. No matter how many news article there are out there, the general public just doesn't "get it." Sometimes it just gets exhausting...

Well - did the treatment on hubby's ears and there was a ton of wax. We did this early this morning and he says the ringing is gone and he is no longer dizzy, but will see if all goes well at work. I checked his blood pressure as well and all is well. He is now getting ready for work. Cardiologist did call to check up and I relayed what I did and how things are. HE was satisfied and glad that I double-checked the blood pressure.

I feel some of your pain.

My company's method of training is to give us a pile of books and a few jobs to complete, and we have to figure it all out on our own. We have 5 programmers in the office and I have to find one that is not busy to answer my questions. The scary part is that all 5 of them have a different answer to the same question, while many do not know much, just enough to get by. The owner does not believe in paying for formal training, since people have quit in the past after he paid for their training.

Many folks think that just because Rush Limbaugh lost his hearing and the CI "fixed" him, it applies to all deaf people. Yes, it is exhausting...

HE must be incredibly stupid if he isn't considering atherosclerosis affect in the brain and the possibility of stroke from that cause.

THe blood pressure wouldn't have that much to do with it...

I must be missing something here. Hubby just went through massive rounds of testing to be told he has coronary artery disease with slight calcification. He also has an enlarged aorta of about 4.5 cm. This is normal, it seems, in tall people. They did not fine any other issues wrong with him. My husband and son both get build-ups of wax in incredible amounts in their ears.

Yes, and the coronary artery disease can do a big number on your brain, give you a stroke, and the blood pressure would not have to do with that stroke.

What an idiot your doctor is if he overlooks dizzyness in a patient with that diagnosis.

He should not surmise that it is related to ear wax!!

It could be, but it should be checked any time there is an issue of that nature.

Exactly. We have had that in our family, and I have seen the result of a serious stroke in my great aunt from just that cause.
