This father loves his 16 year old son so much that he spent 170 consecutive (school) days waving at him each morning as the school bus drove by his house. The bus had to follow a route that passes by the teen's house the second time.

Teen's dad spends school year waving at bus, embarrassing son | Deseret News

I liked his last attire...very fitting of him. Aarrgh!

Thumbs up for this Dad.

WOW!! One of those..... "Don't quit your day job"

I am glad he is putting an end to it. It is totally embarassing to his child and he KNOWS it.

He knows it, yes. But I think when this kid grows up and looks back, he'll appreciate it even more and laugh about it. Even the kids on the bus got a good kick out of it and looked forward to what he would dress up as.

Better than having a screaming match each morning with his teen son to get his !@%@#% ass on the bus. That father is a father with humor and love for his kid(s).

I don't think this kid is scarred for life. Call it a treasure box (170 days) of memory to cherish later on in his life once he realizes his father is gone for good. And how fun of a father he was. Put that into perspective. You don't know what you miss til someone's gone.

I always told my girls that it's my job to embarrass them.

True.. Although, I see several ways of expressing love to a child other than embarassing them in front of their peers. I am glad the other students enjoyed it and he did not get clobbered over it.

I know I embarass my kids once in a blue moon..but I do not go out of my way to doso.

I think his was a creative way to express his love (and creative humor) for his son. I think it was hilarious on what he did. I don't think this kid is scarred for life at all. The father certainly created something memorable that showed the quirky side of his love for his son.

Heck...I can't even get a hug or a kiss from my boys....Just once in a blue moon....(an example is if they want some "moolah")...I do get a "ILY" sign whenever they are leaving for school, etc., ....So, once in a while, I do grab them in a "bear hug" and pull a wrestling trick on them....That gets them to running and laughing.

So, I say kudos to the Dad....and know that if something should happen to him, the boy is gonna miss all that "waving"....the boy is always gonna remember it. Good ol'Dad!

Wirelessly posted (sent from a smartphone. )

Very interesting! Some unusual way of showcasing his love for his son. Maybe someone on Alldeaf from Utah have heard or seen that before. I think American Fork is near Provo where Happy Valley is.

Edited: Added Alldeaf...oops.

Other kids started to take note.

"Most of them like it, and we roll down our windows and wave. It's fun," Rain said.

That's the son's words. I think it is going to be a great memory for him.

 That's a great way of showing your love for your child. It is pretty embarrassing, but hey. People probably thought he had the coolest dad ever. I bet you his popularity skyrocketed at school.

I wonder if he had the time to prepare and dress up to do a pass by wave every mornings without his son knowing what he's wearing. Who knows?

Obviously he had time to get ready his costumes each morning. He certainly did very well hiding his costume(s) for the next day.

Very cute! These are memories to last a lifetime. It's wonderful that someone took a picture of Dad, front and back, for every day he did this. What an album that will be!

Any idea how the father lost his leg?

If you click through to the blog, sounds like his wife has a great sense of humor too. She described him as "a trophy husband (complete with kickstand)."

Sounds like a fun family.

The state or the city should award to the father as the Best Father Of The Year. That is really rare for any father showing much love for his son.

I am wondering if that would make his day on Father Day, June 19, 2011. A lot of fathers don't do the nurturing like mothers do with their children taking care and loving them. But if fathers can be there for their sons and daughters, then that is great. Fathers should never put us down and abuse us. Men need to change their attitudes to express their concern and love for their children.

I am very happy to see that it take a lot of guts to do many costumes to just wave at his son on the bus for 170 days. Incredible! Bravo! Way to go!!!!! :thumb:
