Thinking how happy I am with the results of my bathroom project!!! My bathroom was an ugly buttercup yellow with 80s vanity sink, medicine cabinet, and mirror. Ripped them all out and started from very scratch with paint, new toilet, new vanity, cupboards, taking out the recessed medicine cabinet and putting drywall over it, and new accessories.

Oh yea..today was crazy. I dont know if you saw my FB status...I spent 3 hours today moving furniture out and then moving my furniture into my new classroom. yesterday, I spent 4 hours moving the other teacher's stuff out and mine in and today I did the furniture. Then, I came home to help hubby finish up the bathroom today..another 4 hours. Then 2 hours of cleaning up the mess. I think my body will be very sore tmw.

Oh yea...all by ourselves. I though I took pics of the bathroom before we even started the project with the old vanity, mirror and everything in it but I cant find it.

Yep, we ripped everything out, put up drywall, chaulked, sanded, did the plumbing, painted and installing...I am just sooo happy it is all done. It was put on hold for 2 weeks because my hubby struggled installing the new toilet. He called his cousin who is a certified plumber and discovered that the whole plumbing system was all messed up. So, it was on hold until we got someone to come in to fix it all which was last night. Got it working so today, we installed everything.

Thanks!

Dang Shel, you should consider trying out for HGTV's Design Star, that looks good!

I'm thinking that today I feel better and I've got something to keep me occupied in the wee hours if insomnia slams into me again. Last night I did not go to sleep until 3:30. However tonight I am going to try taking a hot bath and having a cup of coffee. For some reason, coffee relaxes me instead of hyping me up - it takes a mega-Red Bull to wake me up and I've been off of Red Bull for about 3 months now.

My nephew has been busy yesterday and today getting his classroom in order, too. I sympathize. He comes home exhausted!

Asl class. It starts in a few weeks but I don't want to go. Its not because its Asl, but because I have to go back to school. Its all physical; I don't feel like physically getting up, driving, parking, walking into the building, down a hall, and sitting in a classroom. A full semester of nights stuck in a classroom. I know.... suck it up and do it. Im just being lazy.

Thanks...my first time I ever remodeled a bathroom. In the Fall, I will start on the upstairs bathroom. Nervous about that because we will attempt to build separate double sinks ..right now, it just has one.

Double sinks are so cool, though. The one I want to do is my big one upstairs, too. I want to replace the sink and the vanity completely, and have been looking at natural surfaces for the vanity top. I really like a granite top, and it wouldn't be too expensive for just the one sink. I'm also thinking about adding some tiles around the shower and the vanity. And the lighting really needs to be changed.

I use the master bathroom upstairs to get ready in. This bathroom is the "guest" bathroom on the first floor.

Oh, goodness.

Re: bathroom remodeling: we remodeled both our upstairs bathrooms (hall bath and master bath) this past winter. Tore them down to studs and completely replaced everything: new tubs, toilets, lighting, medicine cabinets, beadboard wainscoting in the master, new tile, and our wonderful under-tile heating system in the master.

My advice, especially if you are in a cold climate: DEFINITELY spring for the under-tile heating system. I love, love, love it. So nice and toasty on a winter's morn. It's not even very expensive (if you have a smallish bath - ours is 5' x 10'). We keep the thermostat turned down very low at night, so it's really pleasant to go into a nice warm bathroom without having spent a fortune to heat the whole house overnight.

The thing about bathrooms is that it's hard to do "only a little bit," unless you are only replacing faucets or painting or something modest like that. Once you get started on stuff like replacing vanities, you might have to replace or repair a lot of the floor tile anyway.

And if you do that - might as well just rip it all out and update everything. Easier to do it all at once.

But, but, the grass loves the rain too. You should have seen the areas in my backyard last night where the grass was up to my calf. Thank goodness, I guess, that my yard is a mix of grasses, groundcover & weeds. The whole yard wasn't that bad. I only got about 2/3rds mowed last night before I got too tired.

My grass was looking like the grass in Phx, AZ when I was growing up! I did NOT like the brown and yellow areas. I want alll green!

That's why I cut mine high, because of the lack of rain. Less likely to turn brown. Plus, if I cut it short, I have to use grass catching bag, which is a pain since it gets heavy, making pushing the mower harder, and I have to keep emptying it.
