Bills, me sick! Last night, me do do? Me review bills for now month. Me look phone bill. Me notice bill expensive than before. Before about 21 dollar, now 31 dollar. What's up? Oh no no no! Me found what? Found stupid charge. Example what? Tax and fees. Connect fee. Federal tax. State tax. Local tax. Service fee. BS! BS! BS! Then, me notice l-d, AT&T, they charge what? 2.49 for for? paper fee. Me notice everyone charge fee paper. Brownnose money! Banks, credit cards, etc. Recent, Wyndtell try use paper fee. But me notice they stop.

Tax, fees everywhere! Me sick! They tend small but gain-up really big difference. Me guess me must habit. But they do give choice. Can no-more paper. How? Get bills online. Me think cool. Me not surprise future everything online. Technology help lot. True business.

Mind-connect, me recent said future everything online. Me feel true. Why? Example, universities now have few course online. Future, all class online? Me wonder. But strange how technology seem isolate us. Deaf know before have Deaf club. Now, no-more, few. Before TTY, now few use. Now use IM, webcam. Before, Deaf institute (school), now most mainstream.

Another example, Pizza Hut now permit order online. Another, me saw show one time Oprah. Have refrigerator with small computer. Can order food. Food store bring food your house. Vee!

But me concern something. Technology also have voice recognize. Deaf how? Do do? Me KT saw washer dryer where? H-D (Home Depot). Saw ad woman speak, machine follow. Same before me saw car ad. Speak, car follow. My dad told me one time, company try computer like Star Trek. Example, "computer, find Mother" then computer respond. Deaf how? We sign to celing? Computer hologram appear, sign? That cool will! Imagine!

Interesting huh? What do you think?

Yeah, it definitely was an eye-opener. :P Sometimes I do use that method when talking with some friends...more of the internet lingo though. ;)

I know some of the lurkers here, condemn ASL b/c it's literal written form translates into English oddly...and it does, there's no question about that!
However, strangely enough I can understand written ASL syntax/grammar better then I can understand some of the stuff Deaf people have written using English syntax and grammer (and my first language is English...am SLOWLY learning ASL) I have to say...English is a VERY tough language. Even native speakers can't always express themselves properly in it!!!!
Also, have any of those ASL critics ever seen those sites that have stuff in English written by people whose native language is not English? (eg Are you Feel Better? Fashion Vs. Hair, Liquor by the Grass or In Cooktaile, When Heave a Passenger of the Foot Tootle Him Meloudiously At first, but then Tootle Him With Vigor) Enough said! A poor grasp of English isn't nessarly an ASL specific problem....(hey even many oral deaf have trouble with English)
but the problems that ASLers have with English, speakers of other languages ALSO have!

You're welcome. Thought you'd get a kick out of this as much as I did hehehe Hey, it's great to see ya again Chelgirly.

I understand this ASL writting. It is fascinated to read it. That is our language as ASL. :)

nice.. :thumb: that's way I wud see my friends writin down sometimes  or typin on tty that way I was like ugh.. oh well one time I know one FRIEND never can type real good english on tty i was embrassed and never called her again oh well.. shyt happens..

that was definately an ASL written format!!! i understood it with no trouble -- great of u to post that example Katzie gurl!

ugh that gives me a HEADACHE... i can understand asl, i sign it fluently, but... reading it just makes me go uhhhhhh.......... its harder work than it is for me to just read and speak in english. blah :)

OOOOOH and another reason is because some people have different words for each sign... like "mind-connect" i think of "popped up" so sometimes i have to sit and think... which meaning do they mean?

Personally I felt it underminded my intelligence and it's an easy way out for Deaf people who don't want to learn the proper english syntax and comprehension. I have worked so hard all my life to learn proper english and I feel insulted if the majority of the Deaf community accepts this as their language.

Aww, what's wrong?? You can't read "proper ASL"?

Tell me why is it that those Deaf people that use the proper ASL that face barriers when filling out government forms, being asked intelligent questions and/or if no interpreter is available, the Deaf person tries the pen and paper approach with the hearing person. Do you think the hearing person will fully comprehend the proper ASL? Thanks for the laugh of the day. :(

Deaf people tend to not write many sentences with professionals if the interpreters are not available.

I always wrote a note, Where the Rest Room is ? Order food... Ask assistant to find the book and name of the author... library book...

I do not write many notes to the hearing people nowadays.... I do using a lot of guester to communication with them. Unfortunately, they are scared of me because my voice sounds like a monkey. What can I do??

They should use ASL and teach us for a better English writing. Learn how to speak is waste of my fucking time. Explore in ASL will help us to writing better in our English structure sentences.

Nowadays, I have seen many young Deaf children learn so much more English than my time. They have DEAF teachers !!! I envy them !

I understand what you mean Socrates and thanks for voicing your opinion. After reading "written ASL" do you really think that author was trying to mock about it or what?

Here is my look at it. Signed ASL is what it is, with its own gramer system, but if your going to learn to write, in english, then why not learn to write so people can understand you? I have no idea what "do do" means. I look at bullymom's sig and Begans Assimilate You.... For someone that does not know asl they are going to look at that and go wtf. There is no writen language for asl as there is already an english writen language. It benifits me to learn asl as it benifits deaf people to learn writen english so that we can all comunicate better.

I personaly dont understand it because i have trouble with bsl... so im screwed lol

I'm going to ahve to learn this sighn language thingie... since my heairngs getting worse it may be usefull :laugh2: :aw: lol naymind

*thanks god for lipreading* ;)

In my humble opinion, I do think the author of that "Written ASL" was trying to mock it and I do thank the author for doing it because it is opening my eyes to a valuable lesson. I've come to really appreciate English as a whole because I love poetry and composing poems, stories and so on. When I read "Written ASL", I felt it underminded the true English syntax. William Shakespeare would roll in his grave if he read that! The Misanthropic Bitch would just have a field day with the lot of youse. However, it is your right to have "Written ASL" and I respect you all to it. I cannot judge you as I prefer English and however you choose is your right.

i agree-if you are going to learn how to write, at least learn how to write it properly. i use asl everyday, i communicate in asl, my life revolves around asl, yet you do not see me writing in asl. i just really think that its the parents fault that a lot of the deaf people nowadays write the way they do. i've worked at the elementary school through a work experience program in school for 3 years, and i've seen the difference between those whose parents sign and encourage them to sign and write and those whose parents do not sign.
