Red face Fire & Police dept knocking on my door..

Here's the scene. I'm sitting in my recliner enjoying the fireplace and the news when I hear talking out side my door I ignore it and go on about my business. Next think I hear a tap on my door so I get up and leave the chain on and open the door mind you it's 10:45pm I'm a single mom I'm not fixing to open my door. There is a police officer there. I tell him to hang on a second while i put my dogs up. I get them put up and my cell phone starts ring. I hit the talk button but leave it laying. I opened the door and there is like 20 firemen out side along with 10 cops and 2 ambulances. They said a neighbor behind me called 911 reporting flames coming from my chimmeny. I start freaking out, shaking and tears rolling down my face. Turns out I had too many logs in it. They double checked the attic space, the chimmney floot and okayed everything. They pulled out the extra loggs and put them out outside.
I am completely freaked out. Calm now but that was freaky..

Well Lori, sorry about your troubles, but tomorrow can only get better. Maybe drink some warm milk and try to get a good nights sleep.

Good thing Chris is HOH he's asleep in the recliner on the other side of the fire place and didn't get distrubed with all these people in the house. That's one good thing about him be HOH. Sleep baby sleep baby..

Wow! What a scary time for you. But you can be grateful that you had neighbors that were looking out for your and your children's best interest!

Yes, I thought the same...

chris' mom, I doesn't mean to laugh at you but I laugh your description over Police, Firearm, etc. Everyone must have known the difference when they see the chimney but one thing is that you are lucky that you have a caring neighbor...

i don't think it's a caring neighbor... more like a VERY concerned neighbor cuz he/she didn't want his/her house burnt down

That is good that you have a good neighbor. It happened to one of my friend when his wife and daughter was home and they had to let my friend's wife know that someone did vandalize theyr garage so they called cops.

I'm almost positive that you are not the only one putting in too many logs to have flames shooting up the chimeny. With the major cold spell going around.

I live in Florida so I am feeling it now! Tonight is going to be the coldest in the winter season so far.... So I will look for them Flame Throwers!!

Here's a tissue, girlfriend!

It could bring on an extreme case of SAD (depression from lack of outdoor sun exposure.)

Thanks!

I just wish I had a fire place to heat up my home. Better yet an antique woodstove.

I will really be depressed when I see my electric bill!

Please do not be offended by this.
But my comment was not toward you or anyone suffering from PTSD.

It was about me.

It does!! Makes you go DANG! (with the bill)

I do too! I find fire places so soothing. On cold weekends. We often build up fires outside big or small. I love 'em!

especially with Oysters roasting!!
