I cuss, but I dont do it to fit in, or to appear tough or whatever. It's plainly a part of my 'colorful' vocabulary. For somethings there's just no easier way to describe it.
Swearing for me is more or less a remnant of a past life. I do know when to refrain from it, and where it is acceptable. I refrain from it when I am in church, lest the Lord Jesus Christ strike me down with a bolt of lightning. When I am at work, I refrain from it when I am in a serious conversation with my bosses. With the exception of when I was having an episode and somewhat coherent and my boss and my manager were both trying to have a discussion with me. L---: You can't go back out there, your sick. Me: I don't care, I just need to work. R-----: Why do you not care? Me: Because I am one fuck-up after the other. R-----: Don't use that language please. Me: Why the fuck not? R-----: Your last warning or this conversation is over. Not completely inexscusable, but then again it wasnt a great situation either. (I had just *barely* hobbled from my workstation to the breakroom, with a ghostly complexion, a lost look in my eyes, and a weakness I was barely able to overcome. In other words, I nearly hit the floor in front of my bosses while I was trying to hide the fact that I was sick and I was trying NOT to get sent home.) |
