Bad STORMS??

Have anyone had gone thru bad storms or any storms survivors: hurricanes, tornadoes, hail, lightening, etc??

I had been thru many storms where I lived with my parents in Northeast of Colorado where they usually get few bad storms every year.

1.) Hail Storm - my dad and I were home when it happened. It was golf to baseball size of hail. Hail broke all windows and some tree branches. We had to clean everything. Insurance covered the windows. It was scary!! I was like 12 years old when it happened.

2.) Tornado - my parents and I were home when the tornado came! I noticed the cloudy being changed so fast!! so I asked my parents to see if it is making a tornado. My dad said LETS GO DOWN TO CRAWLSPACE NOW!! Lucky, that tornado did not hit the house - just barely!!! Tornado destroyed some fields that my dad had been working on (planting the crops, watering, etc...) and pulled the huge trees out of the ground in the river area.

3.) WORST OF ALL - Hurricane WILMA (Oct 2005) - My husband and I are Hurricane Wilma survivors. It happened on our honeymoon trip!! We went to Cancun, Mexico. We got stuck staying in Mexico after Hurricane hit since no power at the airport for few days! So We stayed in Mexico for 10 days (supposed to be 7 days). However the hotel where we stayed when hurricane hit, offered three nights FREE for us to come back to finish our honeymoon!! So we went there in Nov 2006.

Yeah, there was a bad storm on Sunday morning, but I slept through it.

Couple of months ago, there was a strong tornado that took away at least four lives - I was only several miles from the vicinity.

Yes I went thru 4 tornados this year less than 5 months.. First one was on jan 8th it went thru a town name Jersaulem in NW County.. then Feb 5 which was EF4- killing 2 and many injuries 12 miles away from here and most recently which was on May 2nd which was EF3 - killed 2 people and many injuries. I saw both wall clouds. wow! it hit 3 miles north from here killing 2 people . I really freaked out due to my son being in school and at his poppa's house worrying because he was in the path of the storm. I had high blood pressure from both days.

I mentioned about it in 2 threads of tornadoes. You can look for them. If you are not sure. I will find the links and share with you so u can read it.

I also had experienced the tornado went thru here few times in the past.. few years ago it destroyed the barn here. that was the only damage.. weird.. and another time most recently was in 2005 which caused damages to roof of my old house, lot of roofs gone off the playhouse, iron around the flower garden being tossed feet away, chairs flipped over, lot of branches fell down... we dont live in the old house anymore as its not safe anymore...

i live in tornado alley.. figures.. sigh!

Nah.. Got one that got ya'll beat! I stared down the life of a F-5 Tornado, from 200 feet... in 1989, here in Huntsville, Alabama... Don't know why, but that tornado was a killer and was 1.3 miles WIDE, with 190 mph winds... Must have had God on my side, that damn day! Should have been killed, along with my girlfriend, (who is HOH,) in my little Ford Escort GT, Just wiped an entire 3 mile stretch of road, stores, fast food joints, and a shopping mall.. My Ford Escort took a hell of a beating, but now talk about staring down the life of a bad ass F-5 Tornado, like I did... Damnedest thing I ever did... just standing there, next to my Ford, Now I know Tornadoes are scared of ME!

Did have a 2nd tornado that blew right by on Saturday night, while I was working in the garage, Didn't faze me one bit, Just flipped the bird, and kept on working, even the damn Tornado siren was going off.. Probably a weak ass F1 or F2 tornado... but nothing worth destroying anyway....

I live in the FL Keys, so I've experienced quite a few hurricanes. During Hurricane Wilma, I was hospitalized with a bone infection. When it became known that Wilma was going to impact us, they began emptying the hospital. They discharged as many patients as they could, and the remaining patients were airlifted to another hospital.

I got my first and (I hope my last!) ride on a C-130 military plane. About 22 patients were airlifted to a hospital in Alabama. I was one of them.

Flooding (not severe like other areas)
Hurricane Andrew (hurricane moved up north, but did not hit NE OH, but I felt gusty windy effects though)

You ever stare down a F-5 Tornado?... Well I did.. right here in Huntsville, Alabama, just standing outside my beat up Ford, and watched the damn F-5 Tornado roar right by 200 yards from me... Now staring down the finger of God, a.k.a. F-5 grade tornado... blasting 190 mph winds... You damn right.. Tornado kept going but I love a challenge with a tornado... and WILL STARE DOWN A TORNADO... NO MATTER WHAT SIZE!!

Used to live in Nebraska... so nothing new.. just experience...

here my experiences... here in Arkansas...

several tornadoes that caused damages... EF3 and EF4... EF2 that hit in 2005 and others not sure...

Many severe thunderstorms wiht lot of lightnings . with straight line winds and throw down many trees.. lightning hit trees .. one tree in back yard got hit by lightning 4 times. 4 branches fell down 4 different times. that tree is cursed. LOL i got many close calls with lightning.. lightnings are dangerous! yikes!~

several Floodings ... 1990 and last year and this year.. 2008...

many of hurricane remnants and it brought many tornadoes and lightnings..floodings.. many damages..

Hail storms- many times....usually small size like nickel size usually hit here.. but once in a while.. quarter or golf size.. but 3 yrs ago.. we had baseball size hails here! Boy it caused damages to many homes, vehicles, etc.

Big snow storm of 1988 which was 22 inches. but no damages...

I did experience minor earthquakes but no damages..

forgot to add.. ice storms... i went thru several.. but one i never forgot.. when i was living in my old apt .. we had an ice storm and no power outage.. no power for 4 days.. i was preggy at the time.. but good thing i had gas to keep the apt warm... LOL.. whew..

Yeah... You forgot the remnants of Katrina! I got a dose of that bitch, in 2005, over here, in Alabama... and a nasty one too... Uh-huh... Yep.. ice storm in 1993 got this whole town shut down for 3 damn days... 5 inches of solid ass ice... 'nough to go ice-skating... Then thinking of the 1988 snowstorm that dumped 10 inches of snow... still I drove over the damn 10 inches of shit, to get a pack of cigarettes, and that about made my dad blow his stack, when I got back... but easy come, easy go... I had a 4 wheel drive Ford Escort (almost like a Subaru,) but it was a 1 of a kind of car.. but bad ass car... 6 months later I rolled the stupid s.o.b. cuz of someone's car was sitting there leaking oil, and that done the job.. Just totalled... so well I had 5-6 cars that were pretty damn good until some shit happened, and a complete loss... but back to weather....

Let's see... Worst case scenario, goes to the 1989 Tornado... and then 2nd is the 1993 Ice Storm, then 3rd was the 10 inches of shit, in 1988..... Never gonna put up with any of these buzzards cuz Mother Nature got a hell of a BAD ATTITUDE!

i did said that we got the hurricane remnants and it was real nasty here. LOL.. we got many that hit here. nothing new about the remnants but its good cuz sometimes we need lot of good rains to keep the ground hydrated instead of going dry which is not good.

Florida need good pour of rains.

Sometimes we just can't win against Mother Nature.... What's her problem these days?... The weather around this time of the year, just ain't right... Should have been getting hot... not cold! Geez mind me you, Global Warming bullshit, I just don't buy it... Something is up this year... and it ain't El Nino... that's for damn sure....

It have to do with Weather Phenomena known as La Nina is what causing all of the tornadoes and storms so far.

It is not Global Warming. They have talked about it on tv news few days ago that it is La Nina. You are righ it should have gotten hot by now but no? its still cool?/ 60's in May? it should be in 80's by now? oh well weird weather, yep! This summer La Nina should leave us so it will be hot and drier from what they said. sigh!

The most craziest I ever had is at those beaches on Oregon and Washington. One night at the RV park in Seaside OR, my friend and I just got out of the indoor pool and got dressed up, then are ready to go back to the trailer. Suddenly we saw the window, the weather look so stormy, very heavily windy and rainy. My friend and I was like ehh fk it we are still going so we ran so fast as soon as we got out of the indoor pool building, but I couldn't see anything while running! All I can see is the lights, that's it but I was having hard time to pay attention where I am going because the weather stressed me out so much that I have to run so fast and I even lost where my friend was, till I finally fell in 3-4 deep water, I was screaming when I fell because I thought I was drowning, but luckily I finally catched up with my friend, then we continuing running to the trailer and finally got in the trailer.

When I got in the trailer, my cigarette are wet, the lighter was broken, the soap was soaked out, I lost my shampoos, and ALL of my clothes (just a PJ and jacket) that I am wearing are all wet, it's like I just went in the bathtub with whole of those stuff on me and come out.

I have been through many many hurricanes but thank god no serious damages. We do get torandos and bad heavy down pour rains with hails. But I am greatful it didn t hit directly here. But we did get bad storm from Isabel only flooded and damage lots of trees here. Lucky my house is not too low on the ground. But other people weren't so lucky when lots of trees fell on other people's houses.

...for me?

earthquake: 1989, the great earthquake in Bay Area. I was young kid and was in my father's old jeep. We were about to enter bridge and there were traffic because of world series at Oakland, California (SF v Oak). I was so exciting to go to watch baseball game with my dad until that moment of earthquake came to quake us up. I was so scared and cried (of course, i'm kid) also screamed, "DAD!". My dad was so protective and yelling to move the car. Luckily, we are not part of collapsed area, just in middle but greater terrible damaged. I saw it in my own eyes is really nightmare. I had been scared on that day and became my nightmare for almost a month by scaring by going out with my parents. They kept tell me that its over, my head always shake, "no no no"...Its nightmare.

I look at this, yep its called, 'World Series Earthquake' in 1989. When will we (bay area) have this nightmare again? I dont know when- that scary.

I only felt first one in 1988 and nothing in 1991 or 1992

Quakes hit Northern CA four times while I was a college student, but I only felt it two times.
