Who says that the shift will cause volcanos and earthquakes? The only thing I can really see happening is mass flooding since the polar ice caps will melt.

VamPyroX, I'm sorry to say that Buckdodgers is correct if we have a polar axis shift that life will indeed get very, very unpleasant. You forget the effects this has on plate tetonics. Such a massive shift will move the plates with such force that earthquakes and volcanoes will be just the beginning of the end for civilization. Tsunamis, whole islands disappearing, certain areas of continents will disappear under the ocean...on it goes. With all this activity going on, the effects on the planet itself will be worst than any comet that ever landed in the past that obliterated life at that time. Just having a massive amount of volcanoes will be bad enough with the outpouring of all the gases and stuff which will darken the skies for years. It will be one long, long winter...

Don't ever take a polar axis shift lightly...

Correct. I was speaking of a magnetic pole shift not a polar axis shift. Two entirely different things. A magnetic pole shift simply means that your compass will now point to the south instead of near the north pole. It will have effects on electronics and some other things but in the scheme of things civilization can survive nicely. No massive upheavals with plate tetonics and the rest that goes with it. The earth continues to spin on its axis at 23.5 degrees relative to the plane of its orbit around the sun.

If we do have earthquakes... great! I'm looking forward to it!

Well, in the 1800's a pole shift did happen but only shifted about 1/2 of an inch which no one can notice. It was caused by major earthquakes in 3 different places that caused the earth axis to wobble a little bit. The moon keeps the earth at its axis, without the moon...you'll have to worry! I believe it can shift a few inches, not 90 degrees when North America or whatever is at North pole axis. I highly doubt that a major axis shift will happen, more likely a few inches at the most. Let me give you a better idea, if you have a water balloon and you try to shake it up and you can feel the water sloshing around make the ball shift around a little, similar concept as the large earthquakes can shift the earth's axis off.

Scholars and Professors believe that will happen. They studied mountains. I watched Discovery. It's no joke! It happened in million years ago. You were not born.

^^ That's probably BEFORE the moon was formed.

Er... the moon has nothing to do with the earth staying on its axis. What the moon does do is create the tidal forces of the oceans and cause the earth to wobble a tiny bit. Think of a spinning top. Its momentum as it spins is what keeps its own axis in place. As soon as the spinning motion starts to falter, the axis starts to wobble more and more. The earth is so massive (relative to us) that it has been spinning at a fairly constant but slowly reducing rate for eons. This is another way of saying that the days in the past were much shorter than they are now.

Nope, I agreed with Sequoias becuase I learned about it from my school which they taught me... That's fact.

Er...sorry, you got your facts wrong. The moon only effects the earth rotation by "slowing" it down ever so slightly along with creating a slight wobble on the axis as well. It has nothing to do with keeping earth on its axis. The earth's own angular momentum does this just fine without any help from the moon or anything else. The link below explains it better...

There was a pole shift when Antartica and Lemuria sank, and during the story of the Flood in the Bible, and after the Dragons were killed.

We're due for another one but I don't believe we will be affected or in any harm, and at first I never read about that but I am reading about this sometimes so I believe it, because I mean the ones that are connected with the Earth won't be harmed. And I mean if ones were connected with the Earth at 9/11 in NYC they I have to believe volunteered before they were born to participate in that for the good of all humanity, I just remember right now seeing I picture of an angel leaning over to care for a fireman who was just crying with both hands on his knees.

There's so many different stories out there and I just really can't believe over half the stuff I read because 99.9% of it never does come true.

The only thing I'd like to do is create a t-shirt with a baby's body and Bush's head (probably the new Cdn. Prime Minister too which I hate) and have them aiming a gun at you with the letters IMPEACH on top because the gov't has a very difficult time realizing that the water and the land belong to the people instead of belonging to them.

As I always say, the Earth is of one race, the human race!
