RELATED TO A FAMOUS OR INFAMOUS PERSON?
Yes, I have done some Genealogy for a while, and it was interesting about people of long ago who I am related to (pre-1930s). <smile> Many people are either knowingly or unknowingly related to a famous person. I am one of them too. In the early 1990s, I went to the movie theaters to see the movie “Dances With Wolves”, that starred actor Kevin Costner. At that time, it never had entered my mind that Kevin is a distant relative of mine….until a few years later, I had in contact with a family historian who told me about our relations with the movie star. Kevin Costner and I are distant cousins. There were two Costner brothers in the 1700s named Peter and Jacob. Peter Costner was Kevin’s ancestor, and Jacob Costner was my ancestor. This line came to me through my great-grandmother, Mary “Mollie” Costner who was married to a Robert O. Stacy, an Irishman (yes, I heard he was a short man with an Irish temper). Kevin and I both have the same ancestors from Germany. An “Adam Kastner” came aboard on the ship “Patience” to move to America. After Adam arrived to here, he changed his surname to Costner. Here’s the website about the people including Adam on the ship “Patience”: http://www.ristenbatt.com/genealogy/shiplst3.htm FAR LEFT: Actor Kevin Costner MIDDLE: My great-grandfather, J.D. Stacy (he looked a little like the actor!) in WWII. FAR RIGHT: This is me – when I was only 25. I can see some slight similarities here….can you see them in all three? |

I’m somehow related to Peter Paul Halajian, but I don’t know exactly how. Maybe Mayflower can figure it out for me.

Well my grandma told me that when she was very little girl living in small town in Texas that they did let infamous Bonnie and Clyde stay with them to hide from the law at that period. I was told that one of those (cant remember which one) is actually cousin of my grandfather (basically I cant find proof but that close as I know so far that is infamous or famous person in my family)

I'm somehow related to Lizzie Borden (Lizzie Borden took an ax and gave her father forty whacks) and I'm directly descenced from William Cullen Bryant
Also my daddy's side of the family came over here on the Mayflower. A guy in my high school class was directly descended from Robert the Bruce (one of the kings from Braveheart) |

oh, deafdyke, you are related to Lizzie Borden ?? NICE. I did study her case in my women's studies. (FYI for those who don't know: She got away with the case because nobody couldn't believe that a "sweet, pious lady" like her would be able to kill... back in 1800s, women were believed that the only reason they kill was if their father/husband ordered them to. After all, women were created for men's purposes *cough "BULLSHIT" cough!*) Her case and transcript from her trial were SO interesting-- to show how women get away with crimes because the general population of men (the jurys were typically white males) assumed that the women lacked the ability to think but in fact these criminal women were SMARTER to get away with such crimes...!
I have no idea who infamous/famous person I am related to. I know there must be some Scandinvian Vikings in my family's bloodline. My uncle recently dug up the whole family history and he was able to retrieve and trace the family name all way back to the early 1500s. I cannot remember the last name (something like "Vikrer"-- a Russian-like surname) but it isn't the same as my current family's name! |
