Smiley, is the right fist directly on top of the left fist, then you bring both towards your chest? Is that right?

Can you give us an idea of the context? What was the rest of the "sentence", or what was the topic?

It might be "take" or "get".

CONFIDENT or CONFIDENCE does not fit to that sign.... both hands in fist separately away from your chest is "CONFIDENT or CONFIDENCE"

I will go one step further. Did you happen to get most of that sentence and how it was used? I know that you are learning ASL, that is why I am asking if you had "read" how the sentence was used. Then the help you are looking for maybe found for you.

That is why I was asking if it was the right hand directly over the left hand, so I could get a better picture. Then when I signed it, I realized you and Reba were both right. Good job!!

I am hearing, lol, but, I do know exactly what you mean. Let alone smile at a hearing person, never mind asking for help. You walk around the whole day thinking you did something wrong. Deaf people are very easy to talk to, and they love it when you do ask for help in how to sign a word. Your boyfriend Aaron must be very proud of you that you are willing to go the distance to learn to sign so you both can communicate with each other. Best of luck!!!!
