If you were on the Titanic.....
The ocean liner named "Titanic" was claimed to be "unsinkable". When the ship hits an iceburg, it is starting to sink, costing many people's lives, with some survivors in lifeboats. When they were ready to have the people in lifeboats, they said "women and children first", and the men were left behind. I read that there were some women on board too that died. This was in 1912.
There is a major movie picture that starred Leonardo DiCapro and Kate Winslet called "Titanic". I enjoyed it when I saw it in the theaters when it first came out in 1997 (I was 27 then). If YOU were on the Titanic, and the ship is going to sink, what would you have done if you were on the boat? Why or why not? |

I would put on the life jacket and then get on the lifeboat as it said woman and chldren first. If not then I would find something that is float and use it to float myself on it with a lifejacket. I dont want to die since I have a child in my life and my son need me.

i most likely will try to help everyone to get in boat men or women... i can imagine there probably are some women who did nothing but cried and scream... kids hiding in fear, etc.. and just before it sink i probably will go find something to get on and try to swim
even though the waters are freezing and will die from it ... i will fight to live till the last min and i tend to think about others first in those situations... (i pray it will never happen in my lifetime though) |

I'd do the same thing the Titanic's chief baker did....
He was so drunk on brandy and he was the last man to jump off the ship. The brandy kept him warm in the cold Atlantic Ocean until he could be rescued by the rescue ship. You'll see it on a scene in the movie...Just look for a drunk man in a chef's uniform (and BTW it really happened during the actual sinking!) |

I'd go on the lifeboat.

And then you would go straight to your lawyer’s office so you could file a lawsuit against White Star Lines, the Carpathia for not picking you up fast enough (you lost more hearing from swimming around in the cold water), the iceberg, and God.

I was scratching my head trying to remember the legend of the drunk baker on the Titanic.....
Now I remember the baker's name since I read Walter Lord's account of the Titanic's sinking several years ago and watching the poop deck scene in the movie. Here is his biography from the largest Titanic resource on the 'Net: http://www.encyclopedia-titanica.org/bio.php/1945.html Quote:

I didn't like the idea for women and children only on lifeboat I think children are far more important than women without children. I have seen a baby floating in the ocean just because there are not enough boats. I think all children and babies should be on the boat, So I would be be staying behind and save all the children/babies before myself. If there a room for me to get on I will, if not then I guess I'll die in the ocean.

What about all the children and babies? Leave them behind so you can get on the lifeboat? Don't make me choke you there on the boat.

Todays Cruises cannot order only women & Children on lifeboat only. Cause we got lawyers now and cruise companies dont wanna go to court and face millions of dollars of families lawsuits. Im sure they have lifeboats for every passenger now cause they have inflatable rafts as well.

Did you ever saw the movie? There was at least one employee per boat, paddle the boat for the women and children. So I think since there are limit lifeboats, all children and babies should be in it, not being left out. They are too young to die.

come to think of it what about the baby who is crawling and who is gotta make sure that no babies or children will fall out of the lifeboat into the water while the adult paddle the boat away from the cruise?? So it should have at least enough woman to handle the babies and children while one adult paddle. |

I understand what you saying Pomeranian, but when I saw the movie not every child and baby were on that lifeboat and I think that was so unfair and I think at that time they were far more important than women without children. When I saw that movie I end up in tears, because two children were in their room with the mother and laying on the bed ready to die and a baby floating in the ocean with the mother. It was really sad and broke my heart. Now I am glad today it change now, more lifeboats for every passengers . And that is the way it is suppose to be and should always been. Nobody think before. Shame on them. tsk.
