A relative is very ill and I've been attending to their affairs so I've been a bit pre-occupied because of it.....So zesty says I've 'kicked her to the curb'

I don't know about breaking her heart, but I'll be the first to admit that I've been a real a-hole. I'd blame it on stress, etc but still no excuse.
