Major storm blew through. Power went and came a few times, hail. Trees down, some on power lines. One laid on garden, got that off and saved what veggies got damaged stems.
Now the wife sees' why I don't like trees around the house... as long as they don't contact when felled, im ok, but within reach of damaging stuff, they don't belong around a house, garden, shed...ect...
Pics later if we still have power.

Oh and the creek flooded majorly, the whole area across from me is impassable, but Im fine on my hill.

I love big storms but not the damage. We never get storms like that during the summer. I have been in Chicago during the summer and there was a huge storm. The thunder and lightning was unbelievable.

Stay safe.

We've been getting a lot of rain lately, but yesterday afternoon and today were beautiful days, and also, today was a little cooler than it's been lately, and the reason is because we had dew points in the 70's, which made things extremely uncomfortable for many people, but funny thing is, there weren't as many people as there had been the last few days on the bike path earlier today.

I am glad you and your family are safe , I do not like big trees right next my house . I aw on the news the coast was getting ponding on by the storm
if we get one out here and it not too bad I might take my dog for a walk on the boardwalk again. We went the last storm we had and end up having the whole boardwalk to ourselves . I love the smell the ocean during storm.

Pretty big branch got the garden, one large raised bed got mushed pretty good, hope the jalapinos make it as well as the Devils Breaths peppers...
I don't know how bad the tomatoe plants got it yet, there are a ton that need to ripen up and too soon to pick as they are all green still. If the stems broke hen we have a hugh loss on the beefsteaks and romas...

Branch was heavy and barely got it off the garden, if it don't rain tomorrow Ill take the chainsaw out and stack it... Called Ameren on the branch laying on the power lines across the road, they act like they didn't care since I have power but if it breaks the line we wont. it fell from the top and wedged in the tree and other end resting on the 3 power lines ( bowed down from the weight) get a nice little spark here and there and lights flicker.

That is a bummer , do you like pickles green tomatoes or fried green tomatoes ? If you wrapped green tomatoes in newspaper that will help them ripen .

Been there before. 2011, just exactly like that above. Tree branch struck by lightening, and took out a wire and our meter box. We didn't have power for an entire week, as ComEd said we needed to replace the meter box, and it had to pass city code (which it did), and we finally got our power back. The spoiled food stank up the house real good, and it was a lot of money down the drain, so I know how you feel, sort of.

My parents house was hit by lighting 3 times (different storms) Had massive copper spheres on the roof and a big antenna, blew out some wiring in the house, set a wool carpet on fire ( looked like little blue dancing balls ) just scattered all over the carpet, cracked the foundation. Firefighters say that was just a little bolt.
