Yesterday I had a great time with my dad - we used to go walk in the city parks and in the woods when I was a kid. I'd climb trees and play with leaves and we'd talk about things we saw, but often we were very quiet together.

Recently my dad, who is 80, retired from full-time security work. My parents moved into a condo in a suburban area and there's lots of stuff to do, especially in Summer. My dad started taking Tai CHi an computer classes and go swimming again. He loves to go walk on the trails in the woodsy areas near where they are now and yesterday I went with him. We walked for an hour near and in the woods and by fields, saw lots of butterflies and dragonflies and wildflowers. And we saw a doe who stepped out from the brush and into a very large open field close to where we walking. She stopped and faced us and stared and us and we watched her and waited. That pathways are used by joggers and bikers too and several passed by but the deer stood there. After a while we continued on.

We stopped and at on a bench facing another large open field with a treeline.
It was beautiful. We didn't say much, just enjoyed each others company.

It was a special day and I wanted to share it with my AD friends too.

That's great!

My mom and her sisters enjoyed spending time with their dad and they recently set his ashes out to sea in California a few weeks ago.

I do miss my parents who live in AZ. My dad said that he will try to come here for Thanksgiving. He is 65 years old. My mom is 60.

:wave:Derek and Shel!

True, Derek... why it was important to me to be with him.

How many sisters does your mom have, Shel? I'm an only child.

I hope you can see your parents or dad for Thanksgiving:)

My hubby and I visited them recently at their place and we enjoyed looking at their high school yearbooks...we actually found a picture of my dad at about 15, in a classroom wood shop picture. He was in the style of the day, with his "duck's ass" hair style and t-shirt and jacket.
Then they told us stories about when they met and when they first moved here from Chicago/Minn <my dad> and Indianapolis<mom>. One of my mom's yearbook inscriptions is written by someone she's still friends with today. They email each other.

Tomorrow I might go for another walk with him-

My mom has 4 sisters. She is the 2nd oldest. They are all very very close. I love the bonds they have. All of them were daddy's girls. They don't get along with their mother.
