Have any of you had any bad memories with sports injuries or a sports injury that took a while to recover from? I just took a baseball in the feels, so now I kinda get how MLB umpires feel when they get nailed in that region.

Sorry to hear it!....some friends of ours had an argument and she kicked him in that region....twice....he was on the ground.

That's even worse than taking a baseball to that region. I've been there, and it's not very pleasant. It hurts like @#&! and usually results in a few well-chosen words that's not repeatable here.

Professional and collegiate umps wear protection.

Still hurts. That particular area is not one catchers and home plate umpires particularly care for getting nailed at. That'll bring down any ump when it does happen.

Yeah I broke 3 ribs and my nose during a match one time. Ended up losing cause they couldn't stop the bleeding. Almost went after the ref but got grabbed by trainer and squad leader.

I have very serious shoulder injuries. I ripped it apart playing football in high school. I have had a total of 14 or 15 surgeries on it. The sports injury itself isn't what caused me to have all those surgeries though. Its the fact that I was so stupid that right after surgery I would take my sling off and act the tough guy. I kept on destroying the repair. Dumb... and I've been paying for it for the past 20 years.

:(

you got it in the feels as an ump?

Developed plantar fasciitis from playing softball so I retired from it. I have a permanent bruise on my leg from getting nailed with a line drive while pitching in college softball.

Some sort of bad luck in a spot.

Broke arm playing hockey. Sliced leg open when skate went over it other time. Many chapped broken fingers playing basketball. Rolled ankle. Bruises by accident or intentional all over body. Lost count

Three broken toes and elbows that ache something chronic in the cold from full-contact Karate and my knees aren't so good from when I used to play rugby years ago.
Oh, regarding Rugby, I managed to get knocked-out once during a very very bad tackle. I think I was lucky, the other guy ended up with mild concussion...
