My parents moved into the new& built house last year. Recently, We visited them and stayed there for couples of day. Our phones were used up the battery FAST! Is it something wrong with the house that takes up the enegry from our phones battery or is there something else?

have you ever experience with your phone being used up fast when you visit your friends or relatives home before?

:fruit:

some of my relatives think that it was some kind of ghosts . :hmm:

Do you have your cell phones set on WiFi? That can drain a battery if the phone is constantly seeking WiFi signals, even when you're not using the phone.

Since you were in a new location, the availability of WiFi signals may have been different from your home territory.

Also, if your phones can get LTE and you are in an area where that is not yet available or only a very weak signal is sometimes available the battery will get used it trying to connect to that signal. Since it is so new and not everywhere most phones that can receive it have an option to turn that signal off but leave the older tech (3G, 2G,) on.

my parents does not have wifi in the house. Its very possible that i leave my wifi ON and so are my kids'. However my bro in law who has a very old phone and still used up the battery when he visited my parents home. He didn't have a wifi or any fancy stuff on his phone. That is so bizzare.

That doesn't stop a smart phone from seeking a WiFi signal. It will continue seeking until it finds one. It continues to use the battery while seeking.

Don't know unless he's leaving it on more often or charging it less when he's there, or it just seems like that because his use pattern changes when he's at their house.

Continue to be for this because I'll go back to see them again next month. My parents still get more visitors at their house. Hopefully others will say something about the battery. :)

If the phone is seeking a wifi or any signals it will drain a battery fast. Even the regular cell signals if its weak or keeps disconnecting and reconnecting...
It happens when we travel to my wifes parents house as we drive through the forrest we lose signal for a good hour and we watch the battery level drain, then she hooks it to the charger so it stays charged, but constantly shows a search signal and trys to connect all the while.

^^ Or roaming my old Blackberry used to use other networks if it couldn't get on the home network and that would drain the battery fast too.

For some reason, the title made me think this was about ghost writers. Lol

I don't know, but I went to the Sunshine Skyway here ( Tons of suicides and scene of a HUGE deadly accident quite a few years back killing hundreds with a boat hitting the bridge ) We went fishing at night and we heard and saw some pretty freaky things out there... :Ohno: There are ghost stories out the WAZOO about that bridge! We're going out there this weekend or next to see what else we see, but just purely to go out there with cameras! I know, we're weird, but it's cool! :laugh2: :Ohno:

only when battery need replacing..ff I don't think discharged battery mean got ghost :)

You know, when I travel, I always try and make sure my electronics are fully charged. However, they don't always stay charged when I am on the road inside the city, as there are a few areas I know of where the batteries drain fast, so I try to bring a wireless charger with me for emergency use if needed. I actually brought that on my last home visit down south. Also, if I know I'm going to be in a car or vehicle, I try to bring a car USB port charger, and a wire long enough to use. The longest one I have is eight inches, and suits my needs perfectly.

I think his point is if you are going into an area where you know a fast draining battery has often occurred, start out with a full battery and take some means to recharge with you. In other words "be prepared".

i understand him clearly but he didnt answer the question in my thread.

Everyone do bring their backups recharge. My thread is about the house itself, not traveling.

all of our family and included my relatives who visited my parents house. It could be related with the wifi search that uses up the battery who knows.

Oh that is a BAD signal area. Very thin chance.. GPS won't show up in some spots. You do need to have hotspot and wifi. My parents dont have hotspot or wifi.

there you go. just like what others said... if you're in an area with poor cell signal, that will drain the battery because it will continue to search search search for a signal.
