Okay, here's the deal. A few hours ago, I got a text message from a really good friend of mine, and we got to talking, and then she brought up the issue that SVRS would shut down in October (she had no idea about the restructured settlement until I showed her), and that nearly didn't go well, and then the topic turned to the SmartVP, and she and I didn't exactly see eye to eye on that one, because she said it's better than SVRS, but I heard it sucked, so I dunno. I just want no arguements going south, that's all.

Just excuse yourself before a few choice words become the next subject. Kind of insane to be pushing a bad position, especially for those who have the need to top the other. You sure like to attract a lynch mob, don't ya? LOL

I don't go looking for trouble. It usually finds me first. Other than that, I'm sweet and kind, unless a person gives me a very good reason not to, but I prefer to be caring and nonjudgemental.

Sometimes, it's better to let it slide. She can have her own VP. Who wants to argue about this? This doesn't become a problem unless you want to live with her.

say "thats' your opinion, and I have mine".

Most problems arise from thinking we have to convince the other side we are right. sometimes we do, but - really, always?

who cares what she thinks about the damn phone.
pretty soon the issue will be old, as the new phones will be in.

The topic seems like not worth an argument.

one thing you really need to learn and practice - just roll with it.

I don't know exactly how the argument went so my only feedback is to make sure you understand and respect that everyone is entitled to their opinion no matter how wrong you think it is.

Think of it this way, how would you feel if your friend kept telling you that your haircut is bad and even tries to make you go to a barber? You'd be telling that friend to back off right?

Instead, phrase it in a way so that you are just suggesting or recommending. And even state your reasons and try to understand why that person has that viewpoint. Sometimes people do have a valid reason for their beliefs other than, "just because"

Here's an example of how you can disagree without causing drama: http://www.alldeaf.com/general-chat/118308-does-anyone-have-alienware-laptop.html

Note how Grummer says he wants a laptop and I recommended to get a desktop/tower instead and I even state reasons why. Note that I do not tell him, "Hey you idiot get a tower!" If you tell people like you're a boss it puts people on the defensive and they won't want to deal with you.

And again, Grummer is entitled to his opinion and if he decides to get a laptop anyway, that is fine, he is entitled to live life how he wants. We all have the right to free will.

But you are judgmental when you tell someone that their choices suck.

It's OK to state your opinion and show your friend the facts, such as product/service reviews. Then, leave it alone. Don't argue.

I have to agree with Reba on this.

I didn't tell her that her choice sucked-- I was talking about the product itself. You misinterpreted what I meant.

plenty drama started on VRS companies.... just say youre comfy with your VR company thats it. Everyone has their opinion on car brands its just like VRS company. Everyone got their likes and dislikes

Theoretically, I'll never be satisfied until an ethical, deaf owned & run VRS company that has 90% share of the market because, after all, it IS our language, isn't it AND the viably the best route to our political and economic power there is!!! We taw kin' 70-80 million a year! but, hey, I'm serious as a heart attack!

FYI-- there is already a deaf-owned VRS company. Go here:

www.convorelay.com

This company is owned by a deaf man, I believe.
